Hye all,
this wednesday evening at Bonnefooi bar, Rebel Up organises an evening with live concert by Hun Hun.
Brussels duo Hun Hun. Following a trip to Istanbul, the two brothers set about creating mini sound odysseys with new age, ambient and tribal overtones. Hun Hun’s compositions are experimental and timeless, playing on the repetition of ancient melodies and rhythms. Ready to get lost in the maze of the big bazaar ?

New release on Rebel Up Records 27.05 > Schroothoop – Klein Gevaarlijk Afval (pre-order vinyl now)
hey all,
New release coming up on Rebel Up Records this wednesday 27.05
the debut mini album Klein Gevaarlijk Afval by Brussels world jazz trio schroothoop.
mysterious world jazz with DIY instruments
Brussels-based trio schroothoop (Dutch for ‘junk yard’)
is formed by Rik Staelens (wind & string instruments), Timo Vantyghem (bass & clarinet) and Margo Maex (percussion).
Their tribal oriented debut mini-album titled ‘Klein Gevaarlijk Afval’ (Small Dangerous Waste) features homemade instruments built from lost and found objects like scrap wood, old metal or anything that would end up in a landfill. The band’s music is infused with sounds from around the world orchestrated by PVC flute melodies, jerry can beats and washtub bass lines.
Mysterious world jazz with Northern African chaabi, South American reggaeton, Eastern oriental melodies and Afro-Cuban rhythms, resulting in a danceable and hypnotic trip through the Brussels melting pot.
Post production and mixed by David ‘Dijf’ Sanders and mastered by Jürgen de Blonde (KOHN).
Artwork by Eva Lynen on screen-printed on cardboard covers in the studio of the Brussels collective Hashët. Limited to 15 handmade vinyl copies only. Sold out already, but end of June we expect a proper vinyl release of the album in bigger numbers. Available digital on our Bandcamp, as well as the official vinyl pre-order at discounted price for 1 week.

Sat 7 Sept > Rebel Up Records release party “Awakening Spirits” @ Aperodroom See U, Bxl
Join us for a Rebel Up Records saturday at APERODROOM SEE U from 2pm. Relaxing time around our guinguette & food trucks. Album release party of “Awakening Spirits” by Tropikal Camel.
Tropikal Camel (IS / Berlin Arabstazy)
Special guest is Tropikal Camel who will live present his new album “Awakening Spirits”, released just before summer on Brussels label Rebel Up Records. The new urban sound of Middle Eastern/North African futurism, an original fusion between traditional Arabic music with cutting edge electronic sounds. It is a quest for a new identity, one which has been released by colonialist thinking. One that has respect to the past but with heads up to the future, urban but tribal, dramatic but minimal, full of contradictions but keeping the balance. Electronic music that has a meaning and a story.

They united their feminine forces just before the International Women’s Rights Day. This mysterious female quartet has members from various countries and are part of the Brussels global underground attached to local crews like Giraffes & Penguins, Rebel Up and MEDEX. Global dancefloor sounds from all corners of the world, from feminist to activist songs and just pure global beat bangers, attached to their own southern roots and backgrounds as well as sounds from other continents.
Rafael Aragon (Tropikal Masala / Global Hybrid Records, Brussels)
Tropikal Masala’s co-founder and resident, member of the Global Hybrid collective, nomadic dj, skilled producer, superb remixer and avid globe-trotter Rafael Aragon provides a wide range of global electronic sounds, an avalanche of sweaty psychotropical waves, voodoo percussions and trippy oriental house stompers.

Sat. 26 Jan > Rebel Up! Sebcat dj set @ Int. Film Festival Rotterdam – eclectic Mind The Gap night in WORM w/ Marcus Fjellström (SE), Felix Kubin (DE), Deadbeat (CA) & Lowriders crew (NL)
hello folks,
this saturday in the heart of Rotterdam, Rebel Up! Sebcat will be playing during the musical programme of the International Film Festival Rotterdam. Dutch underground music magazine Gonzo (circus) is curating the night under the eclectic *Mind the Gap* theme and with a fine line-up of international artists;
Marcus Fjellström
Is a Swedish composer who plays neo-classical electronica and dark ambient for labels such as Miasmah. He also makes special animation movies about the cartoonish characters Odboy & Erordog and will perform these clips with his sounds.
Felix Kubin & Martha Colburn
The sound of this peculiar fella from the Hamburg underground always amazes and he always operates outside the boundaries of genres; from weird go go pop to super crazy electro fun, anything goes! Martha Colburn will join him with her strong visuals that intertwine heavy social issue, such as bloodthirsty dictators, paranoid crystal meth junkies, corrupt police and whatnot. Kubin & Colburn already worked together on the clip Big Bug Attack -below- This new set surely will be ‘aussergewöhnlich’.
Big Bug Attack- Music by Felix Kubin from Martha Colburn on Vimeo.
Deadbeat
is the moniker of Scott Monteith, a Canadian-but-living-in-Berlin, the best place for someone who makes one of the best deep dub-techno at the moment. Deadbeat’s pulsating sound is right at home in Rotterdam true the gritty industrial and architecture-scaped feel of the city. Artist and geography seldom form such a unity as it will be on this night. Slowdancing is on!
Lowriders crew
These R’dam homeboys will close off the night with a heavy stew of dubby spheres of all things grime, step, trap and tech to make you move.
various Gonzo (circus) dj’s will play eclectic sounds in the bar downstairs, for all your listening or dancing pleasure.
Rebel Up! Sebcat is playing upstairs in the big room as part of the Gonzo (circus) crew and will play eclectic warmup sets inbetween the artists and some finetuned Rebel Up! global dance n bass sounds from the tropics and urban spheres later into the night.
Should be great night indeed, hope to see you there!
For full info & programme on all the other nights (thu-sun) > check the site of Worm or see FB event here.
