After our night in OCCII, Rebel Up is staying in Netherlands for a bit longer and doing a ‘mini tour’ 😉

Thursday 5 May, which is liberation day in Netherlands, Rebel Up SebCat will play with Papelon Kifesh at the Kashmir Lounge coffeeshop bar. From 20h onwards.

On friday 06.05 Rebel Up SebCat will do a 2 hour session at the Oedipus beer Badhuis cafe for Oedipus Radio from 19 – 21h. Maybe with a special guest even. Come hang in the Oedipus old bathing house and taste their artisanal beers, or tune in via their online radio.

After a 2,5 years covid absence, our Rebel Up Soundclash night will be back where it all started @ OCCII venue in Amsterdam on wednesday 4th of may.

It will be a concert evening with special guest Monsieur Doumani, a trio of psychedelic folk rock from Cyprus!!! Check out their amazing recent album ‘Pissourin’ on Glitterbeat.
Played with tzouras (small bouzouki) trombone and acoustic guitar and using electronics, effects and loop pedals to venture into a world that is refreshing and exciting.

Also warm up support by Drone Alone, the project of a Cyprus-Amsterdam musician.

Rebel Up & Friends sessions at Kiosk Radio, April

Last week Rebel Up did a few sessions at Kiosk Radio.

On monday 04.04 SebCat played a tribute set to the cult composer, musician and producer Arthur Russell, who died on 4 april 1992. Celebrating his legacy, life and music; a wide array between songwriter, pop, contemporary cello compositions, experimental compositions and even disco. (a good start into the world of Arthur Russell are his archive recordings via Audika records)

and on friday 08.04, Rebel Up & Friends session with special guest Hazem B, who flew in straight from Tunis, Tunisia, to launch his debut EP Afrochawi on Shouka label!

On saturday 02.04 Rebel Up & Crammed Discs team up with the VK Vaartkapoen venue with an amazing diverse lineup. Schroothoop trio from Brussels on their instruments made from recycled trash, Palestinian duo Zenobia and their electro-dabke sound and DJ set by Acid Arab, plus Rebel Up & Rrita Jashari on the dj decks for more dancefloor fun.

Ruben Hernández Quartet (LIVE – Cuban jazz)
Young Cuban jazz project that brings together four musicians drawn from the realms of jazz and world music. Combining the syncopated rhythms of Afro-Cuban culture with the rich harmonies of jazz, the ensemble performs original compositions and arrangements inspired by current musical trends. Always in search of unique sounds, Ruben Hernandez, the trumpeter and leader of the group, expresses his inner world through compositions that evoke the tenderness and freshness of freedom. Mozambican DJ Fresh Nunas is a multimedia artist who started his pro dj cultural career in New York City. Fresh is a veteran DJ of afro sounds, always keeping them grounded in the continent, for club audiences across the globe. Alessandro Zauli aka DJ Zwalla is a globetrotter, a DJ, musician and respected tastemaker. Based in Brussels and member of the international HAPE collective. On the European music scene for years, he is the soul of HAPE events in Brussels, Venice, Niamey and N’Djamena and performs at several events and festivals. Zwalla is inspired by the emblematic artists of Cuban and Brazilian music, from hip hop to calypso, from rumba to techno and he catalyzes his sets in a harmony and a bomba of rhythm to share. Sandy Martin is a professional percussionist from Cuba. He has been a member of the Cuban bands Lachy and Suprema Ley and has played in Belgium at festival such as Couleur Café and Zomer Van Antwerpen, among others. As a music producer, Sandy has worked for the Italian dance music label Hit Mania Dance.
