It’s time for another Globaal Illegaal party night @ Illegaal, springtime! On this night we will take you into the Brussels underground, via guitar sounds, african vibes, afrohouse, breaks, bass and much more! Sounds from the global underground as always in the nice nightly home of Illegaal.

Gajoy she mixes afrobeat, house, hip hop, kuduro and dancehall reggae. She spent time at radio Tarmac doing shows and joined the collectives of Authentik vybz and Carbone 14.
Nika (Radio Vacarme) she grabs the public’s attention through her impactful music selection, alternating between colourful and somber vibes so as to make the dancefloor jump and sweat.
Mambele (Bolingo) The soul of Brussels and Bruzz/ Kiosk Radio resident. His DJ sets are pure romances on the dancefloor and can make anyone’s head melt. Nowadays he plays on everywhere in his beloved capital and keeps everyone’s hearts warm on colder days in the Brussels underground. His nightly sets range from African styles such batida, bass, afrohouse, afrotech, rave, Congolese rumba and more.
SPECIAL GUEST: Asna DJ and producer from Abidjan, Ivory Coast, Asna defines herself as a “sound explorer”. Her talents lie not just in DJing and production, but also in visual arts. Her universe is mainly influenced by traditional African rhythms which shape the continent’s current music. She does not hesitate to revisit the jerky rhythms of coupé-décalé, Congolese rumba or even the trance of percussion and traditional songs, all with drum infused bass, raw rhythms and some spicy electro for dancefloor bliss.

Hye all, this wednesday evening at Bonnefooi bar, Rebel Up organises an evening with live concert by Hun Hun.
Brussels duo Hun Hun. Following a trip to Istanbul, the two brothers set about creating mini sound odysseys with new age, ambient and tribal overtones. Hun Hun’s compositions are experimental and timeless, playing on the repetition of ancient melodies and rhythms. Ready to get lost in the maze of the big bazaar ? On Tuesday 20 june, Rebel Up SebCat will play dj support together with Deejay Backstabber at the concert of the band Studio Shap Shap (all the way from Niger) at Cafee Cabron in Antwerpen.

on Thursday 22 june for Fete de La Musique in Brasserie de la Mule brewpub in Schaarbeek, Rebel Up SebCat plays a warmup dj set for the concert of KermesZ a l’Est.
KermesZ a l’Est are a wild bunch of anarchic musicians formed as a rough fanfare. They play punkrock and jazz mixed with uptempo balkan tones. Fire! Afterparty by DJ Calima.

On the same evening, Rebel Up SebCat will play afterparty set for Phoenician DriveEP launch at Brasserie Illegaal in Forest. Organised by their label Exag Records and also with support by Swiss groups Orchestre Tout Puissant Marcel Duchamp (Bongo Joe records) and Typhon.
Expect a blend of oriental sounds, flamenco guitar, arabic scales, postrock, drones, free jazz and more!

On Saturday 13 May, a whole afternoon, evening & night of music in Ghent at the Chinastraat / Bar Bricolage on the dockside area. Organised by La Nature Festival as a warm up to their main festival in June.
The event starts with a vinyl record fair in the afternoon from 14h onwards until 18h30 @ Bar Bricolage outdoor area. Rebel Up, Souma Records and countless other good labels and sellers will be there! FB event of record fair.
There will be outdoor music too, with DJ sets by Souma Records, Rebel Up SebCat, Rafael Aragon and Tropical DJipies crew (Didi & Raql) until 22h.

Nightshop April is online now, with songs by Emahoy Tsege Mariam Gebru who passed away end of march and a zouk tune from Guadeloupe.
We have 12! albums of the month, starting with spritual jazz by Syrian-French artist Naïssam Jalal, followed by Brussels group schroothoop and their special junk jazz sound, French-Malian duo Clement Janinet & Adama Sidibé with spiritual strings, Belgian band Gaïsha with psychedelic rock & grooves sung in Arabic. Entoto Band by musicians from Ethiopia and Eritrea bring Ethio funk classics, David Walters explores afro disco & funk and Belgian band Bernard Orchestar brings electro balkan brass in oriental bass. To end the show, Jamaican producer Gavsborg and his deep post-dancehall, DJ Kapwanthi from Malawi and his hyper beats, Ozferti brings his electronic afro club sound, Brussels producer Le Motel w/ Nigerian rapper Magugu and Swordman Kitala & Tim Karbon bring afro bass fire.
