On Friday we organise our 1st big Giraffes & Penguins party again since +2 years in the VK Vaartkapoen venue in Molenbeek. An Arab Bass night with artists from the Maghreb, Syria and Brussels.
We have a great lineup for you, with live sets by 2 special guests Rizan Said (keyboard player & composer of Omar Souleyman / Syria) and the percussive electronics by NURI (Tunisia / Shouka label). Ruben Hernández Quartet (LIVE – Cuban jazz) Young Cuban jazz project that brings together four musicians drawn from the realms of jazz and world music. Combining the syncopated rhythms of Afro-Cuban culture with the rich harmonies of jazz, the ensemble performs original compositions and arrangements inspired by current musical trends. Fresh Nunas (MZ – Bxl) Mozambican DJ Fresh Nunas is a multimedia artist who started his pro dj cultural career in New York City. Fresh is a veteran DJ of afro sounds, always keeping them grounded in the continent, for club audiences across the globe. DJ Zwalla (IT) & Sandy Martin percussion (CU) Alessandro Zauli aka DJ Zwalla is a globetrotter, a DJ, musician and respected tastemaker. Based in Brussels and member of the international HAPE collective. On the European music scene for years, he is the soul of HAPE events in Brussels, Venice, Niamey and N’Djamena and performs at several events and festivals. Zwalla is inspired by the emblematic artists of Cuban and Brazilian music, from hip hop to calypso, from rumba to techno and he catalyzes his sets in a harmony and a bomba of rhythm to share. Sandy Martin is a professional percussionist from Cuba. He has been a member of the Cuban bands Lachy and Suprema Ley and has played in Belgium at festival such as Couleur Café and Zomer Van Antwerpen, among others. This friday 15.10 at the closing party of Festival Resistencia Indigena at Casa Nicaragua in Liege! Organised by Indentité Amerique Indienne asbl with a focus on indigenous cultures in Latin America.
From 16h onwards there are workshops and expositions zapatista, dinner at 18h and at 20h concerts by the bands Tropicant and Tambor Caraibe.From 23h the afterparty will kick off with Dj sets by Baylena Selektah, Rebel Up SebCat and Le Grand Mechant Loop.

This weekend the La Nature festival takes place from friday to sunday, an amazing electronic alternative festival in the Ardennes forest with 5 stages and a special lineup of Belgian and international artists and curated by several collectives, including Rebel Up.
