Special guest is Tropikal Camel who will live present his new album “Awakening Spirits”, released just before summer on Brussels label Rebel Up Records. The new urban sound of Middle Eastern/North African futurism, an original fusion between traditional Arabic music with cutting edge electronic sounds. It is a quest for a new identity, one which has been released by colonialist thinking. One that has respect to the past but with heads up to the future, urban but tribal, dramatic but minimal, full of contradictions but keeping the balance. Electronic music that has a meaning and a story.

Tropical DJipsies (Brussels)
They united their feminine forces just before the International Women’s Rights Day. This mysterious female quartet has members from various countries and are part of the Brussels global underground attached to local crews like Giraffes & Penguins, Rebel Up and MEDEX. Global dancefloor sounds from all corners of the world, from feminist to activist songs and just pure global beat bangers, attached to their own southern roots and backgrounds as well as sounds from other continents.

Great news, this weekend Rebel Up is hosting the new KiosQ dj stage at Esperanzah Festival on friday & saturday. We invited Brussels crews Global Hybrid Records and Giraffes & Penguins to join us, for a real special sounds from the global underground vibe.

Also lots of great artists playing at the festival > Ibeyi, Delgres, Babylon Trio, Fanna-Fi-Allah, Saodaj, Pongo, Les Ogres de Barback, Le Motel and so much more. On sunday our friends of Radio Bistrot will take over the KiosQ stage from us.

This saturday, Giraffes & Penguins and HAPE collective are joining forces for a night of underground african, caribbean and hip-shaking dancehall vibes with legendary DJ/producer Poirier (CA), Rebel Up, Le Grand Mechant Loop, Tropical DJipsies and Doctor Pepper (JM/BE)!

with special guest Poirier (Montreal, Canada)
Specializing in warm electronic music, Poirier is a prolific, creative and eclectic Canadian producer/musician/DJ. Constant in his albums and performances is a desire to build bridges between different languages, communities, and cultures. Active in Montreal, his successful monthly dance party Qualité de Luxe is dedicated to African and Caribbean music, attracting capacity crowds for over five years. Poirier is also the man behind Bounce le Gros and Karnival, parties with legendary status in Montreal nightlife history. He produced a total of 10 albums and many EPs with labels such as Wonderwheel Recordings and Ninja Tune. In 2017, he followed up with “Be Alright”, an EP inspired by Afro house music and featuring a collaboration with the Mozambican-Canadian singer Samito on the anthem “Sowia”. 2019 will see the release of several new songs inspired by Poirier’s travels abroad and his beloved city of Montreal.

Last week Rebel Up SebCat played a dj set at the Norouz evening in la Serre Brussels and recorded it, here to listen in +2 hours to celebrate the Persian new year of 1398. It already hit #2 spot in the World chart on Mixcloud 🙂

In her sets, she blends sounds from various eras and areas, ranging from experimental, ethnical and underground music to dancefloor hits or even more poppy music – all of this depending on her mood, the context, place, public and the things she’s been listening to in that specific phase of her life. with special guests Tropical Djipsies, a new female global dj collective who are sharpening their musical knives for International Women’s Day and their dj set at Giraffes & Penguins. They will spin a 30mins set together with Rebel Up SebCat.
