Weekend 2-4 Aug > Rebel Up hosts KiosQ stage @ Esperanzah! Festival, Abbaye de Floreffe + dj set @ Barzoen, Turnhout

hello all!

Great news, this weekend Rebel Up is hosting the new KiosQ dj stage at Esperanzah Festival on friday & saturday. We invited Brussels crews Global Hybrid Records and Giraffes & Penguins to join us, for a real special sounds from the global underground vibe.

Also lots of great artists playing at the festival > Ibeyi, Delgres, Babylon Trio, Fanna-Fi-Allah, Saodaj, Pongo, Les Ogres de Barback, Le Motel and so much more. On sunday our friends of Radio Bistrot will take over the KiosQ stage from us.

yes yes, this friday night, Peruvian producer duo Dengue Dengue Dengue is coming once more to Brussels, at Bazaar club, invited by the Global Hybrid crew!

Sismique & Sacré is the new madness of Global Hybrid Records, a great ceremony that combines the telluric depth of infra-bass with the cosmic vibrations of our third eye. An irresistible jolt that will shake you from the plantar arch to the pineal gland. An event that will highlight the wealth of new South American electronic music. A hallucinatory journey along the electrified backbone of the Andean Cordillera, a mystical wandering in the luxuriance of the Amazon jungle and beyond …

As usual, the room will be redecorated by us, with a light show and a psychedelic mapping, and as always a nice cocoon arranged as a chill-out, for tired legs and intimate discussions.

With prestigious guests, eminent representatives of the digital cumbia and new Afro-Latin music such as Dengue Dengue Dengue! At their side, the youngest of Global Hybrid Records, the talented Belgian-Bolivian producer Susobrino, who just released a resounding first EP last month. His show mixes indigenous folk instruments, electronic hacks and recordings from his travels in Bolivia! Fresh from a 6-month tour in South America, the duo Fanfara Electronica (co-founders of Global Hybrid), will present their new creations, imbued with Andean mysticism, electronica downtempo and relentless Rave moose. Faithful companion of the crew and agitator number 1 of the world music scene in Belgium, SebCat of Rebel Up will treat us with a selection of the latest nuggets from the global underground.

This friday, an exciting evening in La Tentation organised by the Brussels collective El Pulpo, filled with klezmer music, fanfares and balkan folk & beats! Walking dinner, 2 Live bands followed by a wild balkan afterparty.

Amsterdam Klezmer Band (NL/RU)
This notorious klezmer band celebrates their 20th anniversary and will play their new album “Oy Oy Oy”. From street musicians with a Jiddish repetoire, they have evolved into an international band who has made a solid name through their energetic live shows. They mix klezmer with other contemporary folk and pop/rock influences as a balance between tradition and pure dance music. It’s party wherever they play!

La Nouvelle Flibuste (Bxl)
A warm up set on the floor by this 20-(wo)men fanfare, a true big band of jazz and trance music from different corners of the world, from the Caribbean to the Balkans! Human energy combined with blowers and snared instruments. Better be ready!
Balkan afterparty!
from midnight, the party will continue with Balkan folk & beats into every direction. with special guest Kosta Kostov (BG), one of the leading dj’s of the Balkan movement, also Rebel Up! and Fanfara Electronica on the decks.

Rebel Up! SebCat will be playing at the afterparty with many dj friends, gonna be some good global dance tunes with a view on Portugal and Lusophone Africa.

Afro World Mestizo Explosion from Lisbon!
Transformation, creation & influences from the Portuguese colonies with a huge variety of rhythms, sounds from black Africa, a fusion of reggae and a wide range of instruments from various parts of the world. Started in 1999 in Lisbon. The ‘cidade do fado’ is being more and more open and multicultural, and no one better represents that cultural diversity than Terrakota, influenced by the rising cultural diversity brought by the immigrant populations and musicians from the ancient Portuguese colonies. Nominated a world music best bands by Songlines magazine in 2011. Not to be missed. We advice to buy your ticket in advance.
