We wished our parties were sexy, but somehow our guests often get disgustingly sweaty from dancing, or end up too drunk to look any good.. But not this time! This time we’ll be in SEXYLAND, and it’ll be slick, smooth and sensual..

Muevelo has finally landed in Brussels, this is their 1st party and surely not the last! 

The party originally hails from Paris, with monthly residences in venues such as l’Alimentation Générale or l’International and always a flurry of special guests from Latin America & elsewhere. The parties specialise in furious *tropical* music, the biggest shakers from Latin America, the Caribbean & beyond.

Rebel Up!, Max le Daron, Grandpamini, Pedrolito et MC C-Imperatriz will put the dancefloor on fire with Reggaeton, Merengue, Moombahton, Cumbia, Dancehall, Tropical Bass and more.

French-Chilean producer & DJ, his soundculture started with salsa and hiphop, but quickly changed into new African & Latin-American sounds which he puts in his all out party mix. Former DJ resident of the legendary “Ghetto Tiers Monde” parties, famous for his mashup blends of rough sounds with unknown tunes of cumbia, kuduro, merengue and coupé décalé.

Recent Brussels resident & instigator of Muevelo here, Argentinian DJ/selector Pedrolito is what we call a real digger of tropical beats and cumbias. He has mixed with Sergent Garcia, Fauna, Uproot Andy, Miss Bolivia, El Hijo de la Cumbia, the Soul Jazz Orchestra, RKK de Radio Nova, Alika, Dengue Dengue Dengue, Chancha Via Circuito, Geko Jones and many more. Hosting his radio shows and mixtapes on various radio’s and podcasts, he always brings the best latino vibes. This “pibe” will make you shake in pure urban latino style.

Daniel Fernando Wahl alias Daferwa was born in Tübingen and raised in a Mexican-
German household. From an early age on he got in touch with a broad variety of Latin-American music as well as Rap, Hip Hop, House, Reggae, Dancehall, Dub and UK Sounds. His sets are innovative and rhythmically trips. From melodic and funky Beats, to hip moving Dembow Sounds to syncopated and percussive 4x 4, or halftime bouncy stuff. Strictly spoken – he doesn’t gives a shit about genres. Since 2005 Daferwa has been actively contributing to Cologne’s nightlife. In 2007, he founded the MASH IT UP! platform in Cologne; in 2009 he became resident DJ and
freelancing autor for WDR Funkhaus Europa (Germanys N°1 public radio station for Global Music) writing programs and conducting in-depth interviews. He’s of the main honcho’s behind and German global parties such as Mash It Up! (Cologne) and Global Player (Krefeld & Dusseldorf) . Having played many renowned festivals & parties such as Sziget (HU), Fusion Festival (DE) and supporting many international live bands and artists, he knows how to get a global party going. SebCat (BE) is joining us with a huge new collection of chicha vinyl recently brought from Peru, accompanied by sweaty visuals. La Banda Fantastica, the always evolving cumbia band from the Netherlands (Mexico/Argentina/Chile/NL), will bring some evil tracks to make you dance like a demon. And if that’s not enough already, our party partners DJ Larva & DJ Rengo Estar will take care that the temperature stays up all night long! We invited some special guests for a true Mediterranean flavour.

Rebel Up! SebCat will be accompanied by Israelian dj/producer Gal Kadan, who is specialised in music from the Levant (Libanon, Israel, Palestine, Syria & Jordan) and also by Spanish Brussels DJ’s El Gato Callejero and I Am Sardina, who will spin Iberian sounds from rumba Catalana to flamenco & mestizo + live percussion.

Expect a wild mix with dance music from the Mediterranean and the Levant > Latino Euro-Arab-Andalus connection!

This Wednesday 26 Oct, Rebel Up! @ Les Ateliers Claus to warm up / between and continue the mid week party with the alternative global bands Meridian Brothers (Colombia) and Senyawa (Indonesia). A night from Bogota to Jogjakarta!!

meridian_brothers_malaria_sonora-8From Bogota, Colombia, the MERIDIAN BROTHERS are an art-combo who mix Latin American rhythms with art noise and unpredictable sonic events. Traditional instruments and computer technology all contribute to this mixture of influences from vintage tropical styles from the Colombian coastal zone, the Caribbean and Peru to electronic folk and Dolly Parton. Imagine the illegitimate offspring of a liaison between the Residents and the Penguin Cafe Orchestra and you´ll be close to the sound of the Meridian Brothers. Convincing Latin dance rhythms are overlaid with skeletal guitars and vocal tomfoolery to create a mesmerising confection of minimalism, cumbia, pop, electronica and Afro-funk. The band formed in 1998, spearheaded by leader Eblis Alvarez, and sold cassette recordings in the capital of Colombia before releasing several albums. On their latest album ‘Los Suicidas’ they once again bring their unique, funny & experimental Colombian sound to make you go round and round into sweet delirium. Check out this video.
senyawa-540x300SENYAWA (ID) is an experimental band from Java, Indonesia consisting of Rully Shabara and Wukir Suryadi. The band has been formed in 2010 in Yogyakarta. The band mixes influences from musical and folklore traditions from the Indonesian archipelago with experimental music. The band neo-tribal sound has been described to mix “punk attitude” with “avant-garde aesthetics”. According to critics, Senyawa has managed to “manage to embody the aural flavours of Javanese music while exploring the framework of experimental music practice, pushing the boundaries of both traditions” to create a sound that is “thoroughly out of this world.”
Shabara provides his extended vocal techniques to Senyawa. The band’s lyrics are in various languages of Indonesia, including Sulawesian, Javanese and Bahasa Indonesia. Senyawa’s music is provided by Suryadi’s self-built musical instruments made from bamboo and traditional agricultural tools from rural Indonesia. Get your demons out!
