We’re happy to announce that we are playing Esperanzah! festival this year!

We’ll be playing on Friday 5 Aug, closing the Scene Découverte, where all the local Belgian artists & DJ’s perform. Lots of good artists this year > our personal favorites this year are Ana Tijoux, A-WA, & Calypso Rose. Other artists like Emir Kusturica, Lee Scratch Perry and Manu Chao will surely not disappoint either.

This Thursday 4 Aug, our Rebel Up! Soundclash night in Bonnefooi,
with 2 special guests from Argentina & Colombia with Barrio Lindo (AR) & Ephniko (CO).

It will be their first time playing in Brussels, for a late night session into afro latino & electro folklore flavours!

Barrio Lindo is the project of Augustine Rivaldo, luthier by trade. In 2012, after a stay of three years in Colombia, Augustine decided to explore the world of digital music influenced by South American folklore. It all begin after he participated in a workshop production of musical guided by fellow Argentinian musician Pedro Canale a.k.a. Chancha via Circuito (Crammed / Wonderwheel). Since then he has released two EP via Bad Panda Records: “Free” (Ep, 2013) “Respiratory System” (EP 2012) and a LP published by the Project label: “Mooncircle” (2014) in double cassette & vinyl format. He has also made two EPs in collaboration with Argentinian producer Barda and English producer El Buho called “History of Color” recently published by ZZK Records. He has performed in venues and festivals in Argentina, Chile, Uruguay, Colombia, Brazil and the United States and will now play Brussels for the 1st time

Ephniko hails from Barranquilla, Colombia, via Miami, Ephniko is an emcee, songwriter, global funk selector and producer whose music is rooted in the repetitive groove of hiphop and bass while expanding into the unpredictably eclectic. As a selector Ephniko moves crowds by combining African roots music from around the world with the electromechanical vibrations of the first world inner cities where he found his musical voice. He baptized his style of global dance as “Soundcocho.” He has performed in multiple festivals and concerts from Miami, Caracas, New York City and San Francisco to Capetown and Thailand.

Rebel Up! SebCat is originator of the local Rebel Up! crew who bring the underground global flavour to Brussels nightlife in all global dance styles possible. Host of the night and he will surf the soundwaves from everywhere to neverthere. Just 1 night before Rebel Up’s appearance at Esperanzah festival, SebCat is always ready to play Bonnefooi for those who love the throbbing heartbeat of folklore mashed with electronics.

Hosted by Mexican electro cumbia artist Memo Pimiento, who will play a live set with his Electric Orchestra.

Memo Pimiento Electric Orchestra is a fusion of electro music with the cumbia culture root, analog and digital modified machines supported by an acoustic percussionist, live singer and visuals. Let’s be inside a Mexican Barrio atmosphere! Memo will qlso sell his first EP, a special ultra limited edition of CD-R serigraphed and numbered available

Then next day on sunday, Rebel Up! plays on the street at the free Ô de Molenbeek festival. Ô’de Molenbeek is a cozy street theater festival in the heart of Molenbeek. The square at metro station Graaf Van Vlaanderen for one day turned into a scene of circus, street theater, animation and initiation of clowning to real acrobatics for the young (at heart)! Food, drinks and much more.

Rebel Up! djs SebCat & LeBlanc will play warm up, cool down and freestyle street dance tunes inbetween all the acts!

This saturday, Rebel Up! SebCat playing 2x on 1 night in Utrecht, his old hometown!

Starting at the awesome Kako Da Ne –Tropical Bass Explosion- party in the ACU squat bar, together with all our buddies Rafael Aragon (special guest) & Kako Da Ne dj’s Ayabassca, Dubcovsky and LiveWire

All tropical sounds to global bass in a heavy mix.
