HUNA Sounds is a music collective constantly unmasking eclectic sounds from around the globe. By organising concerts and parties, they aim to spread their unconditional love for global underground music. For the next HUNA Sounds event, they invited Brussels based collective Rebel Up to play a set at Giraf Vlasmarkt. Cosy club night for the win.

Since 2010, Rebel Up brings underground global flavours to the Brussels nightlife through events of global music and contemporary electronic sounds.

Ant aka A-Tweed is a global DJ / producer from Rome, Italy. His sets provide freshness, groove and good vibrations with afro, funk, hiphop, tropical vibes, cumbia and worldwide music gems selections. Ant aka A-Tweed tells us about black Africa, New Orleans alleys and the Latinoamerican cumbias. He is also part of the duo Jungla EST who spice their sound with afrofuturism, psychedelic atmospheres, downtempo electronic cumbia and kaleidoscopic tropicalism.

Born in Havana, Cuba, in 2016, HAPE is a collective of djs and musicians spread around Latin America, Africa and Europe. Lead by an unquenchable thirst for modernizing roots, HAPE has established itself as a major catalyst for Cuban underground musical talents.

Brussels-based DJ Zwalla aka Seleçãozwalla – thesoul and ears of HAPE Collective in Europe – explores Cuban contemporary creation built on the rhythms of rumba, tumba francesa, son, drawing bridges with their ancestral roots, connecting them with highlife, funana, coupé-décalé, mbalax, forró and more. Expect a huge, sweaty, hype, global GUARAPACHANGA.

The favorite ancestral robot of housewives and washing machines was assembled over 15 thousand light years ago with parts of ancestral robots and spatial glass pieces; this supreme being is the miracle of his extinct civilization. His planet called “Cumbiatron”, a planet full of technology and beings focused on creating a fusion of electronic components and feelings. Oscilador Bass is a robot with a heart. His mission and objective is to collect music and culture of all galaxies. After long traveling to find a destination, he discovered a planet called “Earth”, after investigating he finds out it is a civilization full of feelings and love, therefore he decides to establish his home there. Oscillador Bass created a new sound called Latin Bass Sound mixing güiros, cencerros and tumbas with the best spatial sound getting his sole objective: to feel and to transmit happiness to all humanity, fulfilling the desire of their ancestors”. He started the free netlabel Latin bass mexico records, counting 8 mega compilations of latin bass sounds and has also released 4 EP’s of his own productions.

The second edition of Archipel sets a sunnier scene on a decidedly open-air theme. Archipel 2018 will be completely free, focussing fully on outdoor electronic and urban music to foster a friendly atmosphere for dance experiences. Setup at the heart of the Brussels Beach, by the Kanal-Centre Pompidou museum on the Quai des Péniches, the Archipel dance floor is a chill zone with bars against a tropical guinguette backdrop with bamboo sculptures by artist Georges Cuvillier.

☀ Aero Manyelo ☀
Born in Zebediela, Limpopo in 1987, and growing up in the Johannesburg township of Ivory Park, Manyelo was influenced by his father’s love of jazz – and his music has a depth that distinguishes it from South Africa’s plethora of house music. Township Electro is how Manyelo describes his sound and sees him ready to take it to increasing numbers of fans around the globe and at home. Over the past decade, Manyelo’s career has been rapidly gaining momentum on the back of a string of releases on labels such as Out Here Records, Akwaaba Music, Get Physical Music and his own label Herbal 3 Records. His considerable remix skills have also been in demand (Amadou & Mariam’s “Ce N’est Pas Bon” and Jupiter & Okwess International’s “Margarita”), while his original tracks have been included in several high-profile international compilations, and has worked with many renowned artists.

Part of Brussels Global Hybrid Records collective, the music of Rafael Aragon is clearly cut for the dance floor, with a touch of magic inspired by shamanic rites and Afro-Latin, Oriental folk traditions, mystic chimes, tribal drums and voodoo manners Expect hypnotic basslines and electronic batucadas. He is a versatile producer and remixer and has released on international underground labels such as Caballito, Folcore, Babylon Records, Kybele, Regional and Curuba.

yes yes, this friday night, Peruvian producer duo Dengue Dengue Dengue is coming once more to Brussels, at Bazaar club, invited by the Global Hybrid crew!

Sismique & Sacré is the new madness of Global Hybrid Records, a great ceremony that combines the telluric depth of infra-bass with the cosmic vibrations of our third eye. An irresistible jolt that will shake you from the plantar arch to the pineal gland. An event that will highlight the wealth of new South American electronic music. A hallucinatory journey along the electrified backbone of the Andean Cordillera, a mystical wandering in the luxuriance of the Amazon jungle and beyond …

As usual, the room will be redecorated by us, with a light show and a psychedelic mapping, and as always a nice cocoon arranged as a chill-out, for tired legs and intimate discussions.

With prestigious guests, eminent representatives of the digital cumbia and new Afro-Latin music such as Dengue Dengue Dengue! At their side, the youngest of Global Hybrid Records, the talented Belgian-Bolivian producer Susobrino, who just released a resounding first EP last month. His show mixes indigenous folk instruments, electronic hacks and recordings from his travels in Bolivia! Fresh from a 6-month tour in South America, the duo Fanfara Electronica (co-founders of Global Hybrid), will present their new creations, imbued with Andean mysticism, electronica downtempo and relentless Rave moose. Faithful companion of the crew and agitator number 1 of the world music scene in Belgium, SebCat of Rebel Up will treat us with a selection of the latest nuggets from the global underground.
