MELTING POT is a dance practice between performance and party. Based on improvisation score, the work aims to facilitate exchange between different dance styles and community, and to give way to the possibility of sensing and building a certain kind of shared consciousness allowing people to feel united.

Our 4th edition of Giraffes & Penguins already, we’re super happy to announce a live set by Tunisian percussionist, DJ and producer Nuri, coming from Copenhagen to share his ethnic & colorful (there will be visuals too) musical universe with us in Brussels!

Nuri is an established name on the Tunisian underground scene, where, as drummer, he has been a part of numerous alternative music projects. Nuri has released his first album “Drup” on Shouka in August 2017.

SebCat is a fulltime musical nexus: he hosts the Nightshop radio show on Radio Campus Bxl, curator of countless Bxl parties & nights and he runs a DIY vinyl distro with the better global sounds. Soon he will kickstart the Rebel Up label (with releases from Portugal, Angola, Cabo Verde, Ghana, Iraq, Mexico and Peru coming up!). Expect a wild set of the freshest African, Latino & global sounds.

Starting friday at the alternative Crew Hassan venue!  a night hosted by Rebel Up: Lisboa Global Beat Clash, with some of Lisbon’s finest global dj’s.

Cigarra & BirdzZie, both of Tropical Twista records and Voodoohop, fine producers of electronic ethno beats, and who host the AncestroFuturismo nights allover Lisbon several times per month. They will play a set of ethno beats and tropical tempos.

Also joining us is dj Mushug, of amazing Lisbon Afro-Luso band Octa Push, a great producer and dj of global beats with Afro urban influences. Expect a deep dip into the African electronic underground

hosted by Rebel Up SebCat, with a set of sounds from the global underground.

Guacamayo Tropical (CO / Madrid)
The Colombian duo Guacamayo have been taking all the afrolatin flavour in their suitcase, spreading the sweaty love in their wild Guacamayo Tropical parties in Madrid and their Festival Guacamayo in the mountains near Madrid. Their sessions are characterized by the integration of organic musical instruments such as Colombian gaita, tamboras and djembe, and even typical and native dances switched up with digital beats. Also, they explore new sounds created from traditional roots with a slightly digital edge. Hearty, lively rhythms and flood the crowd with a colorful wave of love, joy and Cumbia! Inspired by earthly ancestral trips, they show us a path, an idea and a project aimed at challenging the senses on all fronts, shooting out sounds explosively charged with good vibes, light and hope.

The Silly Tang (UK/FR – Madrid)
The Silly Tang has been ripping parties for the last 5 years all accross the UK channel and into latino spheres. Playing alongside names such and Randall and J-Man in the Jungle music scene and rocking up some Gypsy Folk next to names such as Balkan Hotsteppers or Innamorati. He has now settled to live tangly in Madrid, Spain to start continue producing more delightful tangoloid sounds, between dub, cumbia and ancestral latino folklore. He has released dubby cumbia tunes on Andalucian label Caballito and on Chilean label Regional. Also he’s part of the La Selva crew known for their tropical sweaty sounds.

Mr Orange (Lowup, Bxl)
a Brussels based music aficionado and founder of both the infamous Los Hermanos Brothers and Lowup. His musical universe is broader then broadway and he’s also active as a sound designer for theater and film. In his more informal playing moments he’s also known as Carrot or El sñr Naranja. Groovy tropicalism with a pinch of the unexpected and some tongue-in-cheek humour. Good music is timeless.

Domicil is famous a one of Germany’s prime jazz club and has an amazing sound system, a dream for every music loving DJ & listener 🙂
