A โ€˜picoโ€™ is a typical Colombian soundsystem as can be found on the Caribbean coast, with itโ€™s huge width and fluorescent colors. El Magico Baobab hails from Netherlands, where they build a pico soundsystem according to the Colombian measurements and with a hand-painted screen design by the famous Colombian pico painter William Guitterez Peรฑaloza.

DJโ€™s and live groups will be playing on this pico soundsystem for a true Colombian tropical vibe โ€“ cumbia, baila cantaos, currulao, tambora, gaita, champeta, salsa and moreโ€ฆ.

Chicha cumbia, cumbia Amazonica and psychedelic rock from Peru via Brussels.

Nikanor is a Peruvian band based in Brussels, fronted by vocalist Marx Sรกnchez Sosa and guitarist Angel Loaiza. Together they play Chicha cumbia, a unique genre based on Andean melodies blended with tropical percussion and psychedelic rock.

The first Chicha cumbia bands appeared in Peru during the mid-1960’s and was very popular until the mid-1980’s. In recent years, โ€˜la Chichaโ€™ is experiencing a renaissance, with bands and audiences from around the world (re)discovering its power and sound. Taking the big names and bands from the Chicha cumbia era as a reference, Nikanor started in 2016 as a cover band, to play the most remarkable and strongest songs to gain recognition in the Belgian scene. Since then the band has evolved into a group that writes their own music and songs.

Nikanor’s songs are a mix of rock, Chicha cumbia, tropical cumbia and Andean folk. Songs like โ€˜La Bajada del Kurakaโ€™, with its Afro-Peruvian rhythms, or โ€˜Cรณndor Blancoโ€™, with its Quenas (Andean panpipes), make this album a trip in sound into Peru. Listening to the songs you feel like flying through landscapes and rhythms from all around the country. All of this in a rock structured format that invites to dancing and partying in a live setting.

Tropicalia Bxl & BeatChronic organise this night as part of BeatChronic’s 4th anniversary. This young collective runs special eclectic nights in Brussels with many broad styles; global, roots, electro, hiphop n funk.

This friday a special Tropicalia night at the largely unknown loft space Belgica.

The night is organised by a collective of creative Brazilians from Sao Paulo who welcome everyone to party all night long in their new place. A 600 square meters industrial loft. Friends of friends are also welcome.
Concert by Les Fanfoireux + a variety of DJ sets. Rebel Up! in tropicalia & psychedelic & beats style + many others.

This saturday a special night at La Tentation Bxl as organised by El Pulpo, a new international Brussels collective with Belgians, Italians, Spanish and Venezuelans. Also Rebel Up! has become part of El Pulpo for these global concert & partynights.

Special band of the night is Onda Vaga from Buenos Aires, Argentina!!!
One of Buenos Aires finest bands is coming back to Europe. The best thing about it: they will be in Brussels for their only show in Belgium.
Their sound is a heavy flurry of styles, flirting with cumbia, reggae, rumba, mestizo rock and even some tango. Check their Take Away video’s made by Vincent Moon a few years ago >

Also our favorite Italian Brussels band Riso Patate ‘n Folk will kick off the night with a mediterranean gypsy jazz and Italian folk set.

After the wild Onda Vaga show, the party will kick off further deep into night with Groovalizacion Radio djยดs Pedrolito (AR / Paris) & your local Rebel Up! SebCat.
