This friday night in Gent.

HUNA Sounds is a music collective constantly unmasking eclectic sounds from around the globe. By organising concerts and parties, they aim to spread their unconditional love for global underground music. For the next HUNA Sounds event, they invited Brussels based collective Rebel Up to play a set at Giraf Vlasmarkt. Cosy club night for the win.

Rebel Up is a collective, label & platform that’s all about sounds from the global underground. It’s about creating a global community that leaves behind the post-colonial mindset and embraces multiculturalism in all its artistic forms.

Saturday 1 December, Rebel Up @ Giraffes & Penguins #12 with Gan Gah, Au Quai, Bxl

A weird-looking caravan is progressing slowly through the desert. The Bedu-Penguins are approaching, followed by dozens of robot giraffes carrying their massive soundsystem. They travel from town to town to spread traditional and futuristic arabic sounds, night after night after night… Soon they will reach their next destination – a wild oasis called Au Quai.
Is it a mirage? Come check it out!

The caravan’s members GAN GAH, Rebel Up Sebcat & Duckfood, Le Grand Méchant Loop and Maria Ilia (video mapping) will shake your hips & bellies all night long!

Producer/DJ Gan Gah is set to cause a storm on the music scene
with his melting pot fusion of Electronic music and North-African vibes accompanied by rhythmic beats. Gan Gah edges more into Gnawa and Berbers territory with his music like you’ve never heard before, hypnotising his audiences with dancing spells and creating a movement that no other producer has yet to make. The Moroccan born producer is bringing his childhood Agadir roots into Brussels with his memorable sets, effortlessly gathering unity and culture together through his music. In 2015 he released an album dubbed ‘Souktronics.’ The following year was a big one for Gan Gah as he dropped two albums, ‘Moroccan Affair Remixed’ Featuring Jabo, and ‘Chaâbitronics.’ Gan Gah has performed at Dour festival, Sfinks Mixed Festival and the infamous ADE (Amsterdam Dance Event). Whether it’s with his production skills or DJing, Gan Gah pushes sonic boundaries and envelopes listeners into his universe.

He shares his passion for global music through the Giraffes & Penguins events that he has been organizing since 2017. Maria is a Brussels-based freelance architect and visual artist. Her experience in architecture came together with her passion for visuals to develop sophisticated and colorful video mapping on handmade structures for events and festivals. Tonight the visual vibe will be set in Bxl Arabic moods, to surprise the senses.

Duo made up of Léa Roger (Guili Guili Gulag / Félon) and Célia Jankowski (Vitas Guerulaïtis / Flies Rattle / collective H.A.K.). Influenced as much by traditional music as by experimental music, OSILASI creates a narration with extensible contours, playing on sound dynamics, rhythmic shifts and modulation in repetition. Their music oscillates between interiority and physicality, always in tension, always on the wire. “One can refer to a fine blend of post-velvet experimentation, spiritual free jazz, French folk prog and Malinese music, but that would equally distract one’s attention from their wild beauty and imagination.” (Kraak Festival)

Rebel Up SebCat is doing a little tour in eastern/central France.

Starting on wednesday 3 october in Lyon at La Maison M.

21 place gabriel Rambaud, Lyon.

Next evening thursday, SebCat will play vinyls at the La Piscine restaurant at Le Sucre club from 18h till 20h, with a special chef made day menu of pulpo (squid) sandwich and a truly Belgian vegetarian option by renowned chef Benjamin Sanchez.

It will be a vinyl only set in ethnic ambiances, together with DJ Antoine Rajon (Nyami Nyami Records) who will play from 20h till the end.

and on the same thursday evening, SebCat will train his way down to Saint Etienne to play a closing dj set at the vernissage of SELAM – pépinière d’initiatives solidaires in Melies Cafe. Together with Djs Graham Mushnik & A.P Roady (Le Bandit Rode) and Sounds of Selam Crew. open from 20 til 1am.

and finally, friday 5 and saturday 6 october SebCat will play in Clermont-Ferrand at the Effervescences festival in/outside the venue La Cooperative de Mai in afternoon and evening of both days.
Playing as part of a mobile soundsystem action by Brussels organisation Supermouche/Supervlieg together with our good dj buddies The Wild and Funky Bompa. Come to check us out, it will look and sound amazing 🙂

Nuri is an established name on the Tunisian underground scene, where, as drummer, he has been a part of numerous alternative music projects. Also DJ, he is an impeccable selector and a skilled navigator in the universe of beats and sounds, wrapping traditional and world rhythms in a club house clothing.
Nuri has released his first album “Drup” on Shouka in August 2017.
