Not as DJ, but managing the band on the road, taking them from venue to venue through Belgium (Antwerp, Gent, Leffinge), Netherlands (Leiden), Germany (Dusseldorf), France (Paris) and Switzerland (Baden, Geneve & Dudingen).
Since the 1970’s, she is one of the main female voices of the Malian Wassoulou style. Check our her recent reissue on the Awesome Tapes from Africa label, it’s pure bliss. On the tour they will have merch for sale (CD’s and vinyls) at very fair prices.

MdouMoctar immediately stands out as one of the most innovative artists in contemporary Saharan music. His unconventional interpretations of Tuareg guitar have pushed him to the forefront of a crowded scene. Back home in Agadez, he’s celebrated for his original compositions and verbose poetry, an original creator in a genre defined by cover bands. In the exterior, where Saharan rock has become one of the continents biggest musical exports, he’s earned a name for himself with his guitar moves. and for those of you in the city centre and in the mood for some griot music: Kaito Winse from Burkina Faso will play a FREE concert in Bonnefooi.
His concert is made from 9 songs and 9 shorts stories explaining the message of songs or instrument’s origins, depending on the mood. Chatting with audiences, Kaito Winse takes them to Lankoue, his village of Sourou from Burkina Faso. His songs reveal Samo land and griot traditions from Burkina Faso through ancestors praise, edifying traditional stories (tales). So many topics sung with a powerful and natural voice, which impose listening and silence before convincing by a melodious, bewitching and catchy texture via traditional instruments such as the mouth bow, Fula flutes, calabash and more. Festa Afro Tuga started in 2016 by the NGHE Mediatheque and Rebel Up as a party in Brussels to celebrate Afro Portuguese music culture, with guests DJ’s from Celeste Marisposa, Principe Discos label and live artists from the Afro Portuguese diaspora. 5 epic & wild editions were held so far in various Brussels venues. This edition in the new Recyclart in Molenbeek melts together with the Nightshop concept as an Angolan special. Gente sabi, puxa!
Diron Animal (AO/PT) Nirox Romao aka Diron Animal brings infectiously rhythmic dance music from the Angolan ghettos, fusing electronic production with traditional music. He is an ex-member of rock kuduro band Throes + The Shine where he played for several years and released his debut album ‘Alone’ in 2017 on the British Soundway label. Now his 2nd album ‘Pair’ has been released on Rebel Up Records just before summer, so his set is a true first premiere for Brussels! Lua Preta (AO/PL) Angolan/Polish duo consisting of vocalist/MC Ms. Gia of Angolan descent and experienced Polish DJ and producer Mentalcut. Together they bring the frenetic mixture of modern electronic music and African genres characteristic not only to Ms. Gia’s native Angola but also to the whole continent – including kuduro, afrohouse, gqom and more.
