Celeste Mariposa is a DJ duo from Lisboa. They started as techno Dj’s but the last couple of years they have become true connoisseurs of music from the ex-portuguese colonies like Angola & Cabo Verde. The last time they played at Bonnefooi it was an amazing set full of uplifting and crazy funana. Really looking forward to this one!

The beatmaking DJ of the famous Spanish nu-flamenco hiphop mestizo band Ojos de Brujo, has produced many of their albums and remixes, toured the world allover. Nowadays he also works on musical projects like Lenacay and Electrorumbaiao and is quite busy spinning ethnic tunes from all over the world with loops and electronics. is the dj alter ego of Marco Bustamante born in Beni, Bolivia, descendant from the Quechua culture and plays all the native Bolivian folk music instruments like quena, charango, pinkillos, tarkas, zampoñas, etc. In 2010 he started his own concept about Colombian cumbia combined with electro, drums and bass, funk, Bolivian folk, global bass and rock. The next few days, Rebel Up! SebCat will be touring the eastern coast of Spain, yay!
Shoudl you be around there the next days, do come!

Tomorrow night, Thu 24 July, SebCat will be playing global/tropical beats in Valencia together with Biano (member of Orxata Sound System) @ Desfas Tropical party in Juanita Club. Doors open at 23:00, Facebook event here.

cassette connection

Then on Friday 25 july, Sebcat will be playing at the big La Mar de Musicas festival in Cartagena city centre as part of Cassette Connection, which is the international cassette playing project between Awesome Tapes From Africa, DJ K-Sets & SebCat (aka Maj Tahal). After Belgium/Holland this is only our 2nd tour, so lucky Spain!

We’ll be playing at the old Moorish castle overlooking the city & harbour of Cartagena, after the shows of global bands Les Ambassadeurs, the reunited Malian 70’s band of Salif Keita, Amadou Bogayoko & Cheik Tidiane! And also La Yegros (Argentina), a great honour.  In the deep of night between 2:30 – 4:00 we will be playing a fine selection of cassettes from Africa, Middle East and Indian subcontinent.  It sounds something like this!

This hyperactive Brussels group brings afrofunk and groove from the West-African 70’s back to life with a bang, They are joined by Oghene Kologbo, guitarist of Fela Kuti’s band and also by by legendary drummer Tony Allen of the same late Fela Kuti. Like he says > “when I play it’s like an orchestra in itself”. Expect fireworks of pure african big band sound on stage.
