On saturday evening, Rebel Up, Giraffes & Penguins & Tropical DJipsies at the Experignon mapping installation at Skatepark Ursulines at Place de la Chapelle / Kapellekerk, during Bright Brussels festival of Light.

A live video mapping performance by Maria Ilia, on a large scale mapping installation, that flows in harmony with the sounds of a thoughtfully selected line-up, invites the greater public of Brussels to experience a festive atmosphere during the 4 evenings of Bright Brussels Festival of Lights!

Deejay Narciso + Nuno Beats > Rsproduções (PT / Príncipe Discos)
The RS Produçoes (‘Rinchoa Stress’) collective from the Rinchoa northern Lisboa suburb was launched in 2016 by a then 17-year-old Narciso, and is made up of DJ/producer Nuno Beats, DJs Nulo and Lima, producer Farucox and MC Pimenta. Their album ‘Bagdad Style’ on Lisboa label Principe Discos last year features 8 original compositions by DJ Narciso and Nuno Beats and moves from “muscular batida” to “metallic cargaa” via “semi-tarraxos” and ravey house and kuduro jams. The crew plays regular shows at Príncipe’s monthly Noite Príncipe parties in Lisbon and will be playing in Brussels for the 1st time. Quente, puxa!

PLLOW (Bloom Hill / Kiosk Radio)
PLLOW is a female Cameroonian/Belgian DJ & co-founder of the Brussels music agency Bloom Hill. With this eclectic DJ, you can expect a set between afro rhythms and bassy sounds. After 3 years Djing, she can mention highlights like performing at AFROPUNK in Paris, Dour Festival, The Lot Radio (Brooklyn NY) and being a resident DJ for Kiosk Radio. and on Saturday, our Giraffes & Penguins Arab Bass party @ VK!

with Ammar 808 (live set) and Ghoula (TN). + DJ’s Rebel Up SebCat, Le Grand Mechant Loop, Tropical DJipsies and opening live set by Tsoukina (female gnawa from Bxl!).

We’ll dive together into the infinite richness of arab music and its evolution from traditional forms to contemporary and wild electronic sounds.  

Our special guests:

AMMAR 808 is the electronic alter-ego of the Brussels based producer Sofyann Ben Youssef (Bargou 08, Kel Assouf). With songs from the Targ, Gnawa,and Raï histories and a TR-808 kicks alongside a distorted guimbri, gasba flutes and zokra bagpipes. His debut album ‘Maghreb United’ on Glitterbeat was a top10 album that changed the perception of contemporary Maghreb music. At the moment he is working on his second album, so expect a lot of new sounds!

Ghoula is a tunisian self-made musician and producer. As a producer and multi-instrumentalist, Ghoula creates genre-defying sets through both acoustics and samples. His debut album ‘Hlib el Ghoula’ was released on Shouka label and is now preparing his second album.

Peruvian DJ and producer Lukrø is the co-founder of Peruvian bass label Matraca. Originally from Lima, but based in Mexico D.F. where he runs the label, produces his output and runs various bass parties. Hidden behind a mask, he brings the vanguard of the new cumbia, juke, footwork, baile funk, moombahton and global bass alive on the dancefloor.

Great news, this weekend Rebel Up is hosting the new KiosQ dj stage at Esperanzah Festival on friday & saturday. We invited Brussels crews Global Hybrid Records and Giraffes & Penguins to join us, for a real special sounds from the global underground vibe.

Also lots of great artists playing at the festival > Ibeyi, Delgres, Babylon Trio, Fanna-Fi-Allah, Saodaj, Pongo, Les Ogres de Barback, Le Motel and so much more. On sunday our friends of Radio Bistrot will take over the KiosQ stage from us.
