Starting in the morning (for real) at the Cureghem/Anderlecht canal side.
The Microtunes X Breakfeest event is organised by Micromarché as part of their Recup Ton Quartier / Recup Je Wijk project. Listen to some tunes, do a workshop, have a pancake breakfast!

The Rebel Up label & distro will be there with our releases + other titles. More sellers who will be present are SOUMA, XOGN, Calacas, Labi & Funk, GroovyRecords, Ubuntu & more.

new Rebel Up Nightshop #85 June online

Hello all,

Our latest Nightshop show for June 2021 is online. 3 hours of new global sounds and releases for the worldwide scene. 4 songs of the day from Colombia to Martinique and Colombia-meets-Brazil and a Palestinian song. Our albums of the month first take us to Africa with folk sounds from the Comores islands on Glitterbeat, southern Moroccan Amazigh blues music by Hassan Wargui (Hive Mind), Mdou Moctar’s tamashek rock album (Matador), Les Pythons de la Fournaise and their maloya & sega sounds (Catapulte) and Brussels female duo Mazima and their modern afropop children songs. Some strong jazz, afrobeat & afro cuban funk by Muito Kaballa Power Ensemble (Rebel Up) and a Jamie Branch live album in fiery jazz mood (International Anthem) In a more tropical mood with the roots-dub-cumbia by Krak In Dub (Galletas Calientes) and the compilation Club Coco selected by Coco Maria with lots of new latin artists and EP by Cameroon producer Nkom Bivoué in afrohouse and bass sounds. On sunday 20.06 Rebel Up records will participate with a vinyl/merch stand at Beats ‘n’ Roots Keep On event for Fete de la Musique at Circularium in Anderlecht. Circularium is a new creative space for circular economy in Brussels.

Lots of (inter)national artists, live sets and DJ sets.

On 4 May we did a live videochat interview with Congolese musician Jupier Bokondji of band Jupiter & Okwess in Kinshasa about their new album ‘Na Kozonga’ (Everloving Records) and an interview with Lebanon producer Chahine (Out Of Nations) and filmmaker Hassan El Khatib about a critical political song/video. Also tunes by Malian blues master Samba Touré and a new ecological EP by German jazz band Muito Kaballa Power Ensemble, a fundraiser for a reforestation project in Bahia, Brazil.
