Rebel Up busy week allover Belgium! 20 – 22 – 23 + 24 June + new Nightshop show

This sunny june week a nice and busy week in Brussels & Belgium with Rebel Up dj sets and even a stage!

First up, here is our latet Nightshop radio show for june, filled with new albums of jazz, brazilian soul funk, afrobeat, organica, cumbia, african electronic and arabic bass and more. Tune in here!

and now for the busy week of gigs!

On Tuesday 20 june, Rebel Up SebCat will play dj support together with Deejay Backstabber at the concert of the band Studio Shap Shap (all the way from Niger) at Cafee Cabron in Antwerpen.

Come and have a taste of contemporary music from Niger via Studio Shap Shap, between traditional griot sounds up to electronics. Check some of their sounds here.

on Thursday 22 june for Fete de La Musique in Brasserie de la Mule brewpub in Schaarbeek, Rebel Up SebCat plays a warmup dj set for the concert of KermesZ a l’Est.

KermesZ a l’Est are a wild bunch of anarchic musicians formed as a rough fanfare. They play punkrock and jazz mixed with uptempo balkan tones. Fire! Afterparty by DJ Calima.

On the same evening, Rebel Up SebCat will play afterparty set for Phoenician Drive EP launch at Brasserie Illegaal in Forest. Organised by their label Exag Records and also with support by Swiss groups Orchestre Tout Puissant Marcel Duchamp (Bongo Joe records) and Typhon.

Expect a blend of oriental sounds, flamenco guitar, arabic scales, postrock, drones, free jazz and more!

Friday 23 June, a big action packed evening with an amazing lineup at BRASS for Fete de la Musique in Forest > an evening by the Bongo Joe label!

Concerts by Cyril Cyril, Blanco Teta and AMAMI, and local Bxl Forest warmup band Turkish Kebap.

Outdoor garden dj sets by Rebel Up SebCat, Bongo Joe crew and Memo Pimiento.

Since a few editions Rebel Up curates & programmes La Dome stage at this amazing and cosy alternative festival on the slopes of Baraque de Fraiture.

“La Nature” is an intimate festival, nestled in the heart of nature, exploiting a magnificent forest of the Belgian Ardenne and presenting a unique and multidisciplinary programme of arts, projects, body & soul workshops and a musical line-up, with a special place for live performances.

Such an amazing programme with many (inter)national artists & DJ’s.

Hello all,

Our latest Nightshop show for June 2021 is online. 3 hours of new global sounds and releases for the worldwide scene. 4 songs of the day from Colombia to Martinique and Colombia-meets-Brazil and a Palestinian song. Our albums of the month first take us to Africa with folk sounds from the Comores islands on Glitterbeat, southern Moroccan Amazigh blues music by Hassan Wargui (Hive Mind), Mdou Moctar’s tamashek rock album (Matador), Les Pythons de la Fournaise and their maloya & sega sounds (Catapulte) and Brussels female duo Mazima and their modern afropop children songs. Some strong jazz, afrobeat & afro cuban funk by Muito Kaballa Power Ensemble (Rebel Up) and a Jamie Branch live album in fiery jazz mood (International Anthem) In a more tropical mood with the roots-dub-cumbia by Krak In Dub (Galletas Calientes) and the compilation Club Coco selected by Coco Maria with lots of new latin artists and EP by Cameroon producer Nkom Bivoué in afrohouse and bass sounds.
