This saturday a sweet night at Beursschouwburg together with kunstencenter De Vooruit from Ghent as part of the yearly Out Loud festival.
British afropunk-poppers Zun Zun Egui sadly had to cancel their show, but Rebel Up! helped arranging some fine replacements for them, 2 bands even, yay!

We´re proud to present French-British outfit Orchestre Du Mont-Plaisant and local Brussels & Ghent afro-heroes Mocambo to fill this night with their special global sounds.

Orchestre Du Mont-Plaisant specialises in all global styles with a heavy psychedelic sauce. They bring together world rhythms and moody cinematic moments playing blues and dance pieces, with notable influences from Congolese Soukous, African highlife, Ethiopian jazz, cumbia, séga and a whiff of Middle-East and Turkish Psychedelia to make your head & body spin.


Mocambo will shake you up with their heavy Afro-Brazilian & urban Afrobeat rhythms. It´s the project by rapper Le Tagarel and composer Tartaruga and joined by our own Brussels artist Témé Tan and several other master musicians. Their strong sound takes you from Angola to Brasil in many colours and spheres. Get ready to rumble with this wild band!

Dearest friends. Seb & Olivier invite you to celebrate our double birthdays (4th march) this Saturday night at bar Tapas Soif, 10 days later…. The debauchery is programmed to start around 20h. There will be 2 concerts by some of Brussels most original artists (Mim and  The Lover Be), who else? And around that a whole lineup of sexy dj’s bringing you awesome dance tunes (Crazy Mwandishi, Dr Grimm, dj Pancho Leblanc, Darcyr and dj Pinchado (especially from Buenos Aires, Argentina)). An unknown amount of styles will pass through your ears > chicha cumbia, african tunes, hiphop, soul, rock, acid house, electro & surely more. We hope to greet many of you this Saturday. Love and hapiness!

Tapas Soif has lots of good beers on offer (from Brussels region & Wallonia) + tasty tapas on offer all night long.

This monday 23 Feb in OCCII, Amsterdammie!!!!!!!!!!

Konono N°1’s “Congotronics” album introduced the world to the strange and spectacular electro-traditional mixtures which are being concocted in the suburbs of Kinshasa, Congo. World music, electronica and avant-rock aficionados have all been equally amazed by this otherworldly music, which has driven the international press to come up with some surprising comparisons (from Can and Krautrock to Jimi Hendrix, Lee Perry and proto-techno!…).
The band was founded back in the 1960s by Mingiedi, a virtuoso of the likembé (a traditional instrument sometimes called “sanza” or “thumb piano”, consisting of metal rods attached to a resonator). The band’s line-up includes three electric likembés (bass, medium and treble), equipped with hand-made microphones built from magnets salvaged from old car parts, and plugged into amplifiers. There’s also a rhythm section which uses traditional as well as makeshift percussion (pans, pots and car parts), three singers, three dancers and a sound system featuring these famous megaphones.

Back in business for this new year full of promises. At least this next Saturday we’ll make sure you’ll be grooving at Cafe De Vinger. Hot music are welcome in these times and Christmas has been kind on new sound collecting. Get ready for mashing tunes from all around the world. This time the benefit will go to activity project for Brazilian street kids.

Brazilian NGO Tiaozinho

During the next 3 months, a sports project for children and adolescents in one of the Sao Paulo favela’s will be organised. The aim is to stimulate social skills, values like team spirit, playing together and fairplay so that the youths can make positive decisions in their future life, but the main goal simply is to just have fun and enjoy themselves. Sports that will feature are football, volleyball & circus techniques and some other activities. Also friendly tournaments will be organised for the children as an end goal to all their sports training and with an incentive for them to invite their family into their playing environment as part of the social process. For this project, they need to raise money to buy sports equipment (balls, nets, clothing etc) and to cover other costs.
