Wednesday 19 Oct, the Global Club Music Network will celebrate their 10 years anniversary with a yearly opening afterparty at the Womex showcase festival.

The GCMN is a network of international DJ’s, producers, organisers and booking agents who work in the field of global club music, which Rebel Up is part of too.

The party will be at Titanic Sur Mer, an iconic riverside venue which can hold up to 200-250 people. There will be a live concert by Miroca Paris & band, a live dj set by Colombian DJ Guitto and dj sets by Rebel Up SebCat B2B Didi of Tropical Djipsies, Kosta Kostov, Makala, D Watts Riot, David Chavez Soundculture, Oonga, Boris Viande, Ali T, Chief Boima and more… plus also a jam outside on the riverside terrace.

Sunday 17 Sept > Rebel Up curates Global Street Sounds @ Ancienne Belgique, Brussel

This sunday 17/09, Rebel Up curates the Global Street Sounds festival at the Ancienne Belgique venue and outside on the Rue des Pierres / Steenstraat in various places and spots. A free day of global sounds & colours during the car free sunday, family friendly and good vibes.

It’s a true block party with concerts inside & outside with international artists & DJ’s, with Meridian Brothers (CO), Joey Le Soldat (BF), Altin Gun (TR/NL), Arkan Mushtak Synth Trio (IQ), Ko Shin Moon (FR), Alizarina (FR), D.WattsRiot (BB), Lee Bass (GH/DE), Baylena (BE) and Rrita Jashari (KV/BE). 
sadly Togo All Stars and Chief Boima both had to cancel due to visa problems, they are replaced by Joey Le Soldat and Lee Bass.

14691959_10154013262098231_5553615490502358087_oThis week, Rebel Up! will be attending Womex16 in Santiago de Compostela, Galicia, the world music expo. Full programme & showcases here!

On wednesday 19th we already will kick off Womex early, with a global dj night hosted by our Global Club Music Network at Casa das Crechas in the historic centre of Santiago, Rebel Up! playing together with our global dj buddies Kosta Kostov (BG), D Watts Riot (BA) & Makala (ES)!  From around 22h30, the Banda das Crechas will play a live set and followed by our global beats till deep into the night.

During the expo days from Thursday to Saturday, you can find us at stand -1.18 (basement) with the Global Club Music Network that we are part of. During the night time, the showcase festival with many good live acts & dj’s, such as our friends Throes & The Shine (PT), DJ Satelite (AN), Boogat (CA), El Remolon (AR) and many many more!  We are also organising a conference session on Friday early afternoon: The Speedate Remix, a session about remixing global tunes for the dancefloor or experimental spheres. And later on the same day, our GCMN network session.

On Sunday 23 Oct, Rebel Up! SebCat will travel down to Porto to spin global and mostly African tunes at Miss’Opo restaurant from 18h onwards (Rua de Trás 49, Sao Bento metro). Come and enjoy the amazing tasty novo Angolan cuisine!
Next evening, SebCat will spin some global listening tunes at the alternative Cafe Candelabro (Rua de Conceicao 3, Trinidade metro).

23-26 Oct > Rebel Up! @ Womex expo in Cardiff + 2 gigs in Bristol (UK)

In the next few days Rebel Up! will be at the Womex world music expo in Cardiff, Wales. We are participating with a stand as part of the Global Club Music Network, a network of global music dj’s and producers (such as Kosta Kostov, Chief Boima. Post World Industries, Wormfood, Urbanworld and several others), to spread the positive and hipshaking message of new and inventive global and electronic music. Should you be there, you can find us in the main Motorpoint arena at stand no. 215 and during thursday and friday you can come and listen to our silent disco dj sets!

Also on Friday afternoon we will present a GCMN network session in Network Room 2 at 15:00, to talk and discuss world music in the club context with international collaboration, exchanging music, sharing idea’s and setting up a touring circuit, so come along if you want to participate!

Besides the day time fair there will be many musical showcases and for the first time even a DJ summit on 2 nights! See here for more info and check the Womex site for the full schedule and programme.

Specially for the Belgium Music stand we made a mixtape filled with contemporary Belgian world music released in 2013 or a bit before. Everything from world hybrids such as jazz, rock, pop, roots, urban, electronic and experimental spheres. Listen to it here and it’s up for download as well!

On wednesday 23rd in Bristol at The Exchange venue, Rebel Up! dj Sebcat will be playing some shangaan & tsonga disco between the concerts of Shangaan Electro & Heat Sick. See full info and tickets in the FB event.

 

On thursday evening in a bar in downtown Cardiff, Rebel Up! Sebcat will be playing a global roots set at a roots/dancehall night, below the 10 Feet Tall bar at 11A-12 Church Street. Starting at around 22:00.

And on saturday night, Rebel Up! will be back in Bristol and playing at The Canteen venue on the Wormex night with Bengali-Cuban-British band Lokkhi Terra. Expect a good mash of indian, african and latino sounds to keep your feet warm and stomping 🙂   and it’s FREE IN! Full info in the FB event.
