Hey all,

This weekend action with some gigs!
On Friday night, SebCat will spin jazz, funky & global beat tunes at Sounds Jazz Club in Ixelles after the jazz concert of Jean Alleman from 23H onwards.

On saturday, a real special African party night: Afro Disco #2, organised by Fresh Nunas.

It promises to be an amazing night of Brussels, African & Congolese sounds from rumba, afrofunk to afrohouse, amapiano and beyond. On the programme a live set by Aziza and Badi, dj sets by Spilulu (special guest from Lumumbashi, Congo!), Fresh Nunas, Baba O Bab, RaqL, Tropical DJipsies and Rebel Up SebCat.

It’s at a secret location, a nice space on the southside not too far from Gare du Midi.
Limited space for 200 or so people, so it will be a cosy party affair.

Thursday 21.07 Belgian National holiday, Rebel Up & Friends @ Fete Nationale at the outdoor Guinguette Gustaaf Guidon (ex Biestebroek / De Koer) behind the Academie of Anderlecht.
Playing with Rafael Aragon, Didi of Tropical DJipsies, SebCat and Le Grand Mechant Loop.

and on friday 22.07 we do a Rebel Up x Giraffes & Penguins global rave at the Circle Park outdoor space in Anderlecht, where already many collectives did amazing evenings. With RaQL, SebCat, Didi of Tropical DJipsies and Le Grand Mechant Loop. Also food will be available.

From 16h until 22h, free in (afterparty nearby to be disclosed at the event 😉

Mozambican DJ Fresh Nunas is a multimedia artist who started his pro dj cultural career in New York City. Fresh is a veteran DJ of afro sounds, always keeping them grounded in the continent, for club audiences across the globe. He will play his set together with Cuban percussionist Sandy Martin

Rebel Up SebCat will be at WOMEX in Porto this week, for the expo, showcase and as part of the Global Club Music Network. An amazing lineup with lots of international global artists in various venues in the Porto city center. See here for tickets to the festival evening & night showcases.

Every year the GCMN hosts a free afterparty for all on the Womex opening night. On wednesday 27.10 pre/afterparty at Ferro Bar (next Sao Bento train station) from 18h to 4am, on 2 DJ levels (rooftop & main room) with this lineup:

After last year’s fun, Rebel Up & Friends are coming back at Saintklet summer outdoor terrace on the Bxl canalside! with a great international lineup of special guests DJ Cami Layé Okún, Edna Martinez & Fresh Nunas, hosted by SebCat.

Cami Layé Okún (Havana, Cuba)
Cuban DJ/selector who collects vinyl records from allover the world as a way of sharing stories through music with similar organic roots. Her sound spans from the tropical to the tribal; think African and Caribbean rhythms mixed with a Latin soul and sensibility, engaging audiences and dancefloors with Cuban disco, Afro-Caribbean rarities and tropical Amazonian funky grooves. Currently based in Havana, she is so far the only local DJ that produces and promotes events in a 100% vinyl format. Since 2020 Cami hosts her own monthly show ‘Insolar’ on London’s NTS Radio where she curated sunny music from different parts of the world.

Edna Martinez (Cartagena, Colombia / Berlin)
DJ / curator, artist and radio host from the Colombian Caribbean based in Berlin, Germany. Her musical selection is linked to her artistic research in which she explores autobiographical migratory routes with the concept of resistance as its axis. Her sound involves Afro-Caribbean organic rhythms, jazz bases, tribal polyrhythm, Arabic folklore, and more. She is the woman behind projects such as “Latinarab” a trip from Jaffa to the Arab Caribbean, and “El Volcán El Orgullo de Berlin”, the only soundsystem picó party in Germany. She also moderates monthly radio shows on Radio Alhara (Palestine), Worldwide FM (London) and Boxout.fm (India).

in the past few weeks we did some sessions in Portugal and Brussels.

On sunday 08.08 we did a session at Cascais web radio/bar Lusophonica, SebCat & Didi.

Followed a few days later with a session at East Side Radio in Lisboa, a B2B between SebCat & Didi as well as a guest set by margem sul’s DJ Kolt of Blacksea Nao Maya / Principe Discos in pure afro portuguese electronic vibes via tarraxo, batida, afrotech and more!

Last thursday we had another Rebel Up & Friends session at Kiosk Radio, with SebCat and special guest Ibaaku from Dakar, Senegal. Global sounds on a deep afro vibe, from melodic moods to heavy bass. Ibaaku also played some tunes from his new album Neo Dakar vol.1.
