We hope you enjoyed the hot weather last weekend, big up thanks for coming to our wild global sounds evening at Listen Festival in VK Concerts, what a blast!

This weekend however, fresher times again, but also a good moment to get cosy inside and share the love for music, food and more.

First up, saturday afternoon til the late evening (or beyond) > De Toestand organises the Lenteluypaard #2 market, spring sale of vinyls & clothes + afterparty in the Luypaard building (next to Zinzinerie). Rebel Up label & distro will be there with 2 crates of good tunes, come and check it out!

Then in the evening, over to Schaarbeek in La Petite Maison close the Schaarbeek train station, the Dancing Babylon evening, part of the MEDEX Tour du Monde en 183 Assietes. A special Iraqi evening with food, concerts, dj’s, short movies, poetry, stories, expo, afterparty and more.

with concert by Iraqi musicians Saif Al-Qaissy (percussions) and Hussein Rassim (oud).

and on sunday afternoon, the Rebel Up disto will be at the Brussels Spring Record Fair in Kanal.

New & 2nd hand vinyl, mainly focused around Black Music (Soul, Funk, Blues, Jazz, Afro, Latino, Hip Hop, House) with some detours trough Pop and Rock by some sellers.
Also there will be a bike market. Free in!

Sun 14 april > Rebel Up distro @ Camping Flamingo record fair & creators market, Hal 5, Leuven

On sunday afternoon, Rebel Up Records & distro will be at the Camping Flamingo creators / 2nd hand market in Hal 5, Kessel-Lo (Leuven), just behind Leuven train station.

Hal 5 is a special space for creators, foodtrucks, events and market days. Radio Flamingo is the monthly creators & vinyl market.

The market runs from 12-18h all afternoon, but already at 9am the Lentefeest day kicks off in & around Hal 5, with a brunch and activities for young & old. FREE IN!

Also from 12 to 15h, Rebel Up & DJ Oerwout will play a live dj session in the market space for Radio Scorpio.

This seven-man company from Pakistan & Canada is celebrating the Pakistani qawwali tradition – an ancient form of Sufi religious music from Asia – such as Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan did in the 80s-90s. And although they have been active for 20 years, the band seems to break through this year with a wider audience.

Pitchfork recently described his style as ‘jaw-dropping’ and called him ‘one of the finest saxophonists going’. from tuesday 23 october til sunday 28 oct, Rebel Up will be present at the WOMEX world music expo fair & showcase festival. This year it will take place in Las Palmas in the Canary Islands.

Born in Syria and raised in the US, Boshra AlSaadi is a typical product of the multicultural music scene of New York. She sang and played bass in bands such as Looker and Teen, as well as a part of the Bubu Gang of the late Janka Nabay, where she also served as musical director. As a solo artists she has released two 45s and will pick up that thread for an exclusive Berlin performance.

Taha feat. Amer Wakka
Taha, a Syrian MC and producer, amalgamates postmodern prose, contemporary poetry, Arabic rap, and classical poetry. Taha’s music and texts draw on memory, emanating from displacement, exile, nostalgia, and the politics of home and identity.
Special guest Amer Wakka is a hip hop artist originally from Damascus, who has been gaining recognition in the Arab world after performing in Egypt, Lebanon, Jordan and his native Syria. Since his escape in 2015 Amer lives in Germany, but remains true to his mother tongue – Rap Arabi fi Almania – Arab rap in Germany. His first EP “CHAUA” was released earlier this year with “Bezirk Zwo”.

Musical Nomad with swiss / egyptian roots and a deep knowledge of all things with strings. He plays electric and acoustic oud, as well as guitars, banjo and pedal bass in various projects including Mando & Gilbert and Okou (see above). He is co-founder of undestructible dub lab X.A.CUTE, plays drums in power duo Atomvulkan Britz and various instruments in the latest incarnation of the Mystical Communication Service.

this thursday 20th, there will be another live session of Rebel Up & Friends @ Kiosk Radio from 16-18h, with special guest Andres R (Venezuela) and a set of latin bass. Expect eclectic vinyl sounds from the Rebel Up side. Come join us on the park terrace for an apero drink or follow the set on the livestream via Kiosk Radio site or Rebel Up FB.


Friday 21st, Rebel Up SebCat will play in the courtyard of the new Recyclart in Molenbeek, together with DJ Charlotte PĂ©PĂ©. The courtyard sessions are the moment to get to know the new Recyclart venue in the Rue De Manchester, as a sort of get together apero session. Be sure that we will take you for a ride of global & eclectic sounds!
