sat 1 Dec; Rebel Up! Soundclash @ De Vinger, Den Haag

Hi Up there,

Rebel Up! is back in Den Haag for the second time and eager to bring some musical presents in your ears for a pre-Sinterklaas party this Saturday 1st of December at café De Vinger!

Our 3 DJ’s Dubcovsky, SebCat and Palm M are ready to make you dance in a time and space travel through Old Skool Afro-Carribean genres up to the most delirious mashups and creations from nowadays. You shall jump oceans and centuries and still be up on your feet to witness the pleasure of what a good buddies party means. Expect music from Congo, Senegal, Ethiopia, Kenya, Ghana, South Africa, Argentina, Brazil and if I keep going, you might start to get dizzy. Anyway music speaks louder than words, so come early to enjoy yourself cause last time got packed before midnight with a great crowd who could not leave the dancefloor. And for that, we are thankful as well as for you spreading the good word for a good cause.

Indeed, this time is also special because we will work hand to hand with a local association called Watoto Wa Baraka which means children of blessings in Swahili. They have founded two orphanages in Kenya and are now trying to build a school in a rural area. You could find more info over them and their other projects via www.africanorphanage.org. Just know that the entrance benefits will go to them and that if you’re willing to give more, you are welcome.

See you at the party,
Rebel Up! Crew

sat. 27th aug > Rebel Up! Soundclash @ OCCII, A’dam > Rebel Up! meets Bassculture crew

yeehawww.

time to kick off a new Rebel Up! Soundclash season at OCCII. From now on our parties will be once every 2 months instead of every month, just to keep it fresh and focused.

Coming saturday 27th, the Rebel Up! crew will meet the Bassculture crew from A’dam for a night of tropical bass, roots & funk, exotic folkpop and other vintage sounds to dance to. check the facebook event here.

Ofcourse our profits will go to a good charity as usual. With the heavy famine that is waging in the horn of Africa right now, we would like to raise emergency funds for the NGO SEED Samburu / Edukans. We also hope that everyone can donate whatever they can spare…it all helps!

A few weeks ago, the UN World Food programma decided to stop sending food reliefs to the tribal region of Central Sambura where the Samburu people live (a pastoral-nomadic tribe related to the Masai) and instead all food now goes to the refugee camps. It’s unfair that the UN turns their back on the Samburu and choose to let them starve. All the educational progress that has been made the past few years by NGO’s like Seed Samburu is on the point of being swooped away because without food, there is no education. Just 10 euro’s will already feed a Samburu child for a full month at school. This is the only daily meal they get as their own families are not able to feed them. Please give the Samburu kids a meal a day so that their life & education can continue!

If you are in Holland, you can also donate through this Edukans link or if you are elsewhere in the world, check the SEED Samburu site.

Rebel Up! goes Brussels on fri 22nd of jan.> Nightshop Climate Jockey party @ Recyclart

Hey all,

Happy new 2010!
and yes, after A’dam & Utrecht, we’re also gonna start focussing on Brussels in 2010, and what more may come from it in Belgium or beyond!

This night will moreless be the start of our bimonthly nights in Brussels (Sat. 16th of april will be our first Rebel Up! party @ Recyclart)

Perhaps slightly different than our not-so-average Rebel Up! nights, this Climate Jockey night will be very heavy on global bass spheres. As we are starting the night with first sounds, we’ll do our best to heat up the floor with some tropical, sensual, tickling tunes from allover the globe.

We’re really proud to again play with our friend Hugo Douster from Lyon, who played with us in Utrecht last year. He sure will butter & fire up the dancefloor with his special style of tropical-rootsical bass selections, electronic body music with a tropical virus! His good friend Baxter Beez will play a similar crash course in bassheavy styles from the tropics. Further into the night, locally famed Brussels partycrasher DJ Lowdjo will spin his eclectic selections from everywhere.
