This Thursday 4 Aug, our Rebel Up! Soundclash night in Bonnefooi,
with 2 special guests from Argentina & Colombia with Barrio Lindo (AR) & Ephniko (CO).

It will be their first time playing in Brussels, for a late night session into afro latino & electro folklore flavours!

Barrio Lindo is the project of Augustine Rivaldo, luthier by trade. In 2012, after a stay of three years in Colombia, Augustine decided to explore the world of digital music influenced by South American folklore. It all begin after he participated in a workshop production of musical guided by fellow Argentinian musician Pedro Canale a.k.a. Chancha via Circuito (Crammed / Wonderwheel). Since then he has released two EP via Bad Panda Records: “Free” (Ep, 2013) “Respiratory System” (EP 2012) and a LP published by the Project label: “Mooncircle” (2014) in double cassette & vinyl format. He has also made two EPs in collaboration with Argentinian producer Barda and English producer El Buho called “History of Color” recently published by ZZK Records. He has performed in venues and festivals in Argentina, Chile, Uruguay, Colombia, Brazil and the United States and will now play Brussels for the 1st time

Ephniko hails from Barranquilla, Colombia, via Miami, Ephniko is an emcee, songwriter, global funk selector and producer whose music is rooted in the repetitive groove of hiphop and bass while expanding into the unpredictably eclectic. As a selector Ephniko moves crowds by combining African roots music from around the world with the electromechanical vibrations of the first world inner cities where he found his musical voice. He baptized his style of global dance as “Soundcocho.” He has performed in multiple festivals and concerts from Miami, Caracas, New York City and San Francisco to Capetown and Thailand.

Rebel Up! SebCat is originator of the local Rebel Up! crew who bring the underground global flavour to Brussels nightlife in all global dance styles possible. Gan Gah (MR / Bxl)
Fed by traditional « Gnawa » and Berber rythms ever since he was born in the suburbs of Agadir, Morocco, young DJ and producer Gan Gah is now based in Brussels.This accomplished musician, who has been performing for many years as a beatmaker under various pseudonyms, knows how to shake a dancefloor with bewitching beats. Offering a cunning combination of club music and traditional North-African music/rythms/melodies, his first EP “Souktronics” is a declaration of love to his Moroccan roots and to modern electronic music which is about to make a lot of noise on worldwide dancefloors. Moroccan Bass, you said?

Dovecake (US / Bxl)
Intergalactic Body Trance Provider who washed up in Brussels a few years ago, but nomadic nonetheless and spends most of his time in different continents. Equal dj as expressive dancer, bounded to celestial ancestral interconnectivity. Adventures in Rhythm & Bass to make your heart melt and hips shake! Afro bounce bass vibes all in directions possible.

Melting Records is a fresh independent record label from a team of music diggers from Greece and France. The label consists of people with different musical background and with a common passion for quality beats.

Kognitif (FR)
one of the most promising artists of the French underground hip hop scene, is visiting Brussels for one and only performance in Bonnefooi. His show will be a musical journey consisting of funky/jazzy beats to dark instrumental hip hop. His last album with Melting Records ‘My Space World’ (12’ vinyl) was a top seller in Berlin, Vienna, Brussels and Athens, while his latest album ‘Soul Food’ hits the top charts of Bandcamp.

Moderator (GR)
is a new talented Greek beatmaker with releases in the London based label Cult Classic Records. His last album ‘The World Within’ hit the top in charts of Bandcamp and fastly became the label’s top selling album. ‘The World Within’ is a trip from lounge-cinematic beats to all kinds of experimental hip hop styles.

il:lo (FR)
is a band consisted by 3 persons, 2 DJs and 1 trumpet player, releasing their music in the Belgium based label DLoaw & Co. They take their inspiration from their travels and take the names of their tracks from the towns they have visited. And so they came up with the title Places, a coming together of six destinations, six atmospheres: from the Italian village of Marta to call Imprenta in Granada. Il:lo’s sound is a blend of acoustic and synthetic melodies. Difficult to categorise, it could well be perceived as heavy as it is light, with its sombre bass lines as well as floaty brass tones.

Beats & Culture (GR)
is a YouTube channel owned by a Greek music digger promoting various styles of music such as Breaks, mashups, remix, hip hop, downbeat, jazz, swing, and tropical beats. He begun diggin beats-music back in 2008. His love in music can reach him listening reggae, dub, gypsy, klezmer and so goes on. Moreover, he is a member of the Greek-French record label called Melting Records.

Kosta Kostov (BG)
Born in Bulgaria, based in Köln, Germany but at home around the world. Skilled cook, dj and producer Kosta Kostov never stops the search for the best global shake & spicy bounce tunes. His sets are a furious cooking blend of sounds from here and there, including own compositions, remixes and mashups, in which balkan, mediterranian, african & american rootsy flavas meets all the nice bassy styles. From dubstep & ragga through funk & breaks till house & electro. Since 11 years the mastermind of the monthly party Balkan Express (one of the longest running Balkan parties of the world!), he is also resident of the Global Player parties, the Funkhaus Europa Club night in Dortmund of the worldwide music radio station and he even presents a musical cooking radio show called Kostbar. A true man of the world in full flavour!

Hailing from Jerusalem, currently living in Berlin, the grandson of Jewish immigrants from Morocco, Austria, Iraq and Kurdistan and growing up with hearing hebrew, arabic, french and german around him, Roi ‘Rocky’ Asayag is a true mix of Jewish and Arab bloodlines. His Tropikal Camel project is a musical mirror of a seminal journey into his Arabic roots. Soul-searching through his intricate identity, he takes us from Kurdistan and Iraq to Morocco. This is how Tropikal Camel is born; an Arab Jew chasing the lost connection to his Arab culture. Dressed in a Moroccon Kaftan cloak, he becomes a witch doctor, a master of ceremony of a musical journey that tries to raise questions and purify the spirit. His vibrant sound is a maze of dense arabic spheres from the past and present, heavy dancehall bass and tropical electro.

They started as techno Dj’s but the last couple of years they have become true connoisseurs of music from the ex-portuguese colonies like Angola & Cabo Verde. The last time they played at Bonnefooi it was an amazing set full of uplifting and crazy funana. Really looking forward to this one!
