Hi Up the Rebels,

Our selection has grown wilder and once again with all types of mashups between Soca, Soukous, Cumbia, global rough bass, the groove of old skool and new skool Afro-Funk, Desert blues, festive Chaabi, mad Indian drum n bass and a bit of spicy Balkan beat here and there.

As usual the enjoyment is also based on the fact that your feet won’t be moving for no reason, the benefits of the night will go this time to Women’s Initiative for Gender Justice, a NGO struggling for the changes of mentality and mainly for the governments leaving consciously open sexual crimes unpunished. If you won’t to know more about this organization, you can go to www.iccwomen.org or on their twitter account @4GenderJustice.

We hope to see you there to share some real fun times together.

Hey Brussels,

Saturday afternoon, we’ll be spinning various soft n folky global sounds in Molenbeek as part of the local Wijkfeest/Fete du Quartier in (Parc) Bonneviepark, with lots of animation and activities for children. It runs from 13:00 – 18:00 and it’s free in for young and old.

and for those of you who like to go fun dancing on Saturday night, we’ll be playing cumbia and tropical global tunes at the *Cumbia meets Balkan* party in the new Chez Jacques music club together with our Argentinian friend Chico Parany. It’s also free in, which makes 4 free Brussels events in a row where we play, what are the odds 😉

This thursday night we’re dj-ing global roundtripping sounds all night at the Citylicous heART party in KultuurKaffee on the VUB campus in Etterbeek.
During the day, some street artists will brighten up the campus.
In the evening you can enjoy a real variety show in ‘het KultuurKaffee’.
Immerse yourself in a world of music, poetry and comedy and finish the evening with the wonderful rhythms of world music.

Hi Up there,

Rebel Up! is back in Den Haag for the second time and eager to bring some musical presents in your ears for a pre-Sinterklaas party this Saturday 1st of December at café De Vinger!

Our 3 DJ’s Dubcovsky, SebCat and Palm M are ready to make you dance in a time and space travel through Old Skool Afro-Carribean genres up to the most delirious mashups and creations from nowadays. You shall jump oceans and centuries and still be up on your feet to witness the pleasure of what a good buddies party means. Expect music from Congo, Senegal, Ethiopia, Kenya, Ghana, South Africa, Argentina, Brazil and if I keep going, you might start to get dizzy. Anyway music speaks louder than words, so come early to enjoy yourself cause last time got packed before midnight with a great crowd who could not leave the dancefloor. And for that, we are thankful as well as for you spreading the good word for a good cause.

Indeed, this time is also special because we will work hand to hand with a local association called Watoto Wa Baraka which means children of blessings in Swahili. They have founded two orphanages in Kenya and are now trying to build a school in a rural area. You could find more info over them and their other projects via www.africanorphanage.org. Just know that the entrance benefits will go to them and that if you’re willing to give more, you are welcome.

The good southern european folks of Anti Tapas have invited Rebel Up! to play at their famously filled parties on Friday 8th of april in Saint Gilles, Brussels.
