Eurabia V poster

Presented by ∆ Cairo Liberation Front ∆, with performances of:
Rebel Up! Soundclash

This dj-crew from Bruxelles/Rotterdam is well known for selecting the best global sounds from the underground; from African beats to Middle-Eastern house and from Turkish disco to Latino bass. Next to playing shows they’re pushing the best music from all over the globe by organizing parties in RecycleArt & OCCII, where they invite artists from all over the world.

Ramses3000 b2b Ray Fields

You might know Ramses3000 as the dj of Cairo Liberation Front, who started playing solo to show the audience what the world has got the offer besides electro-cha3bi. For this Eurabia night he invited friend and fellow towny Ray Fields to join him for an exclusive b2b-set. Expect a pumpin’ mix with the finest electronics combined with world music and Middle-Eastern jams.

AFRIKABOOMNADA

These brothers from Eindhoven are the residents of Het Wild, their own club night where they invited artists like Flako, Kutmah & DJ Nigga-Fox. Next to organizing parties you could have seen them behind the decks at festivals like Mysteryland, BungalUp & Paaspop. After they played the last edition of Eurabia in EKKO, we know for sure; we had to ask them back.

Hosted by MC Holy Joseph

Wedn 4 May: Egyptian / Turkish concert night @ OCCII, Amsterdam

occiiposter_invisible-hands_www-1

a special Egyptian / Turkish concert night of friends @ OCCII supported by Rebel Up, even though we won t be there due to travel (Peru) and work.

The Invisible Hands (EG)

is the English translation of the band’s original Egyptian Arabic name: El Ayadi El Khafeyya. A band created amidst an unusual backdrop by Alan Bishop (AKA Alvarius B., member of legendary US band Sun City Girls and co-owner of the world famous Sublime Frequencies label), with Cairo-based musicians Cherif El Masri, Aya Hemeda, Adham Zidan and Magued Nagati. Songs – sung in Arabic, English, or whichever language they channel – are drenched in lovely psychedelic folk arrangements and vocal choruses with a nod to what could have potentially been music that surfaced decades ago but instead found its way into the future. The group was established during the summer of 2011. Their debut was recorded in Cairo in May 2012, and two versions were released, one in Arabic and another in English, with both on a limited edition double LP. Their second album, Teslam, is currently out on CD with the LP being released in December.
Hayvanlar Alemi (TR)

is a psychedelic folk rock band founded in Ankara. They got together in secondary school in 1999, when they were 14. Classical rock and heavy metal were big influences on teenagers in Ankara then, and they started their musical venture playing hard-and-heavy covers, but very soon self-discovered free improvisation and moved into a more avant-garde approach, and later on occasionally deployed traditional instruments, found-sound elements like live radio, and colorful stage theatrics. They were influenced by the new folk-infused experimental rock scene of the late 90s Istanbul, but isolated from any music scene in Ankara, their sound and song-structure diverged from their contemporaries as they incorporated elements from the findings of their musical research into their sound, which included folk, pop and hybrid sounds of South East Asia, East and West Africa, South America and Russia, as well as Jamaican dub reggae and Californian surf.
