Pål/Secam is an Amsterdam based Dutch/French-British DJ duo, who spread the intercontinental PAN-AMAFROPEANS sound on the local dance floors. Pål/Secam both get bored rather quickly playing just one style of music. This means their sets are infused by the elements of surprise and excitement, in terms of mixing in another genre. Or the same genre, but from another continent. Congolese rumba, oldschool electro, deep dancehall, Cape Verdean Funaná, Surinami Kawina or Kenyan Benga music.. There is no end. This is the PAN-AMAFROPEAN sound, as they like to call it. The two joined forces in 2011 after dj-ing solo for several years. Sharing their interest in music they heard being played on Radio Nova and by dj’s like Theo Parrish, Pål/Secam developed their own style. With a mission to break musical boundaries by creating a diverse colourful pattern that tickles ears and feet. Pål/Secam combine delicate pre-selection with suspenseful improvisation on the spot. Which makes their vinyl and digital mixing raw, sensitive, startling and overall quite unique.

Tomorrow a very special MayDay event, real social instead of just socialist.
A day in support of the refugees and those in-transit who inhabit Parc Maximilien and the area around North station.

The Civic Platform for the aid of refugees in Brussels invites you to come together to the Maximilian Park during a day dedicated to sharing and meeting.
Drivers, Citizens’ taxis, Host families, hostesses and hosts, who offers support, calls and all solidarity citizens: everyone welcome!

Somehow you have been touched by the unique humanitarian movement of the Civic Platform and do you want to show that you do not agree with the current migration policy in Belgium and Europe? Do you belong to those who ask for a solidary Belgium that respects human rights?

Then come together on Tuesday 1 May between 2 and 10 pm at Maximiliaanpark, opposite Antwerpsesteenweg 59, 1000 Brussels.

MELTING POT is a dance practice between performance and party. Based on improvisation score, the work aims to facilitate exchange between different dance styles and community, and to give way to the possibility of sensing and building a certain kind of shared consciousness allowing people to feel united.

Rebel Up weekender in Berlin (DE)

Rebel Up SebCat will be in Berlin upcoming weekend from thursday till sunday. Also expect to see Rebel Up LP’s appear in some of the better record shops of Berlin 🙂

On thursday SebCat will play with other good dj friends in Kreuzberg at the mysterious location next to the Banja Luka bar (Schlesisches Tor). If you want to come and hang with us, just send a message and we’ll let you know where to be.

on saturday, SebCat is spinning at the Deja Groove #3 party at Mensch Meier venue, organised by my good friends Roi aka Tropikal Camel and Dan aka Lt.Dan.

2nd Rebel Up Records release! > Memo Pimiento – A Todo Dar (vinyl + digital)

the 2nd release of Rebel Up Records is out!
we are proud to present Memo Pimiento’s album “A Todo Dar”.
Electro cumbia wave from Brussels via Mexico.

Guillermo ‘Memo’ Pimiento grew up in the capital Mexico D.F., a sprawling cosmopolitan capital with a population of 25 million, twice the size of Belgium. In 2012 he moved to Brussels where he settled with his Belgian girlfriend and daughter and continued his musical career with different musical projects.

Before being bitten by the cumbia virus, he played in various bands, from rock to electronic, trip hop, reggae and even a traditional mariachi band. Once on a holiday in the Spanish Canary islands, inspiration came to him to start making cumbia but with a heavier electronic feeling, influenced by Kraftwerk and Depeche Mode. With synthesizers and keyboards from the 80’s, samplers, circuit bended toys, Arduino soundcards and effect pedals he started making his own cumbia compositions. All of this makes the typical electrified Memo Pimiento sound.

He is joined by 2 band members, the Belgian Manon Amen (nicknamed Man.on) who is the female MC and dancer of the band to fire up the crowd and by Cuban percussionist Victor Hugo for some extra percussive power.

“A Todo Dar“ is the personal soundtrack of Memo’s life between Belgium and Mexico and the extremes of these different worlds, sometimes complete opposites. He created a tripping context with human emotions, bringing the sun and heat of Mexico to Belgium as well as the cerebral creativity of popular Mexican music into an electronic sound.

Released digital via Bandcamp and available on LP in our new webshop as black vinyl and also as special limited edition *marble* colour vinyl.
