Sat 9 March > Rebel Up! Soundclash: De Kift *25 years jubilee* & warmup dj Pinchado (AR)

hello folks,

This saturday an amazing night coming up @ OCCII, Amsterdam, time to soundclash again.

Noord-Holland fanfare-punk-folk band De Kift will be our very special guests as they are currently doing their *25 years jubileumtour* and this will be their 2nd jubilee show in OCCII where they again will play 2 full albums; Vlaskoorts (1999) en Koper (2001) both excellent albums for the connaisseurs and they will be aided on stage by G.W. Sok (ex The Ex).

short docu on Belgian tv about history & workings of the band….

Sadly the concert of De Kift is already sold out (yes, those 275 places went very quick), but you can always come in afterwards for the afterparty around 23:30. see fb event here.

We’ll take care of a nice warm-up together with our touring amigo DJ Pinchado from la Boca, Buenos Aires before the band will kick off their (at least) 2 hour long set!
Afterwards we’ll start the after party with Rebel Up! dj’s & TP OK for those who need their healthy dose of alternative global dancing, with folk tunes spiced with latin, african, asian and arabic sounds 🙂

Friday 25th of september; Rebel Up! Soundclash *Argentina Special!* @ OCCII, with DJ Pinchado (AR) & Los Siquicos Litoraleños (AR)

webflyerIIoccii

We go Argentinian all the way on this night! This night is in collaboration with WORM.

DJ Pinchado (Julio Lozano) hails from Buenos Aires and is born and raised in the old harbour area of La Boca, home to local footie club Boca Juniors and birthplace of the elegant tango. None of that tango twisting tonight, but some seriously psychedelic cumbia! The sensual cumbia has become popular once again throughout all of  South America and reason for this is a fresh wave of young artists who experiment with this old afro-influenced folk style. In Argentina a lot of artists have started creating experimental cumbia sounds, where dub, hiphop and electronica is added to this hefty stew. Pinchado’s special sound floats inbetween dubby spheres and electronic Boca beats as a very danceable cocktail! Excpect a live/dj set with the freshest dance music from Buenos Aires. !QUE CALOR!

Los Siquicos Litoraleños (AR)
From the outland countryside surrounding the small town CuruzĂş Cuatiá in the province Corrientes of North East Argentina, comes a exceedingly rare treat for the ears. Los Siquicos Litoraleños is a unique band formed in 2004. Originally an all improvisational freeform band, their music soon developed into an unclassifiable, highly original style incorporating elements of  cumbia, subtle noise, lo-fi tape manipulation, chamamĂ© (the popular folk music of Corrientes), the angular guitars of Beefheart’s Magic band and a rich variety of non-rock rhythms. At Rebel Up! they will play a special rocking set with trashy dancing in mind, ho ho! See some awesome viddy’s here:

The Rebel Up! DJ’s & VJ’s will guide the sound and the visuals of the night and will be aided by Rotterdam & Worm honcho Saxixa with his edgy Argentinian cumbia collection.

Tonight we will raise awareness and a donation box for Stichting OmbĂş, a Dutch organisation forcussed on Argentina which helps local Argentinian organisations to improve conditions in the poorest shantytowns. More info @ www.stichtingombu.nl
