Sat. 28th may – Rebel Up! dj Sebcat @ Telluris soirée, Genval (wallonie)

Johar!  as they say hello/goodbye in Jharkhand.

TheNGO Telluris is based in the tribal area of Jharkhand and you probably will know by now that Rebel Up! has supported Telluris many times at our parties in Amsterdam and Brussels. This is a fundraiser night set up by the organisation itself and Rebel Up! will help out with some fine Indian dance music after the presentation and concert.

SebCat will play a special Indian folkpop dj set with Indian street images (made by VJ M) around 21:30 , should be good fun with tribal pop and much more!

It might be a long shot,  but Genval is just 15km’s south of Brussels, between Waterloo and Wavre). So if you have transport and can make it, you ou are more than welcome!

Johar!

Before and after the concert, Rebel Up! dj SebCat will be dj-ing together with dj friends Lowdjo, LeBlanc, Darcyr & Sonidero Quilombo (all of the newly formed Brussels Up! quintet crew) till late to close off the 7 Billion world festival in good musical fashion and with good weather the music will be outside. Oh, and it`s FREE in, so come and taste some Touareg guitar spheres, global dance tunes and worldly food dishes!

and more news; after the summer for the 2011-2012 season, Rebel Up! will become a partner of KultuurKaffee for their monthly KK World nights in collaboration with student organisation UCOS. Really looking forward to that!

Rebel Up! QUEENSDAY @ OCCII, A’dam with Hoquets (BE) & Jean Mikili (BE); sounds from Belgium and the ex-colonial/immigrant tropics

our event on facebook here.
with:

HOQUETS (BE/Brussels)
www.hoquets.net
Indiepop, rock and world songs about the weird/historical/culinaire facts of Belgium, all played on self-made instruments put together from discarded and recycled materials. Hoquets is a trio with members Maxime Lê Hùng (BE/ ex-Some Tweetlove), McCloud Zicmuse (US/Le Ton Mité & Maher Shalal Hash Baz ) and François Schultz (FR/Vive le Rouge).
They have just released their debut album ‘Belgotronics‘ on Crammed Discs and recently reworked a song of their friends Konono No.1. The eccentric live power of Hoquets is one of the best surprises of the year!

JEAN MIKILI (BE/Brussels/Liege)
www.myspace.com/jumbojumbojet
Sweet French pop & folk songs with African Soukous guitar rhythms and songs inspired by folk sounds from Laos and much more.

Afterwards DJ’s Brian Hainaut (Hoquets) and Jean Mikili will join us with the dancefloor sound from Congo & around.

The Rebel Up! dj’s will play a mix of sounds from Suriname, Antilles, Indonesia and South Africa to celebrate the rich musical heritage of these freed ex-colonial countries and music of the diverse immigrant groups in Holland. No orange sounds, but only MULTI-COLOURED sounds! 🙂

Tonight’s funds will go to the Belgian/Rwandese humanitarian organisation Igitego Inyange ASBL, who support education and healthcare projects in Rwandese villages in the Gahanda region. We once did a fundraiser night for them around 2 years ago, so time to again bring them into the spotlight. More info here; www.inyange.org
