Fri 26 Oct; Rebel Up! DJ/VJ set @ Impakt Festival, Utrecht w/ Chief Boima & Non-Western Shoot out

This friday night 26th @ Theater Kikker in Utrecht, there´s a super awesome NON WESTERN UNDERGROUND CLUB NIGHT organised by Impakt Festival, where we will play a special contextual Rebel Up! DJ/VJ set.

The concept of this year´s Impakt festival is *No More Westerns*, roughly translated to the western influence outside the west (or ofcourse vice versa!) and this night will be all about the musical and visual side of this. Expect a night that’s action packed with currents of transglobal clubscenes. Here´s the flow > >

Non-Western Shoot out: The Musical > A Mexican stand off with DJ Lonely (Jonas Ohllson), Dubcovsky (Friso Wiersum) and Chief Boima (Boima Tucker): DJ battle with context.

Chief Boima > > solo set by Sierra Leonean-American musician, DJ, cultural activist, and writer currently based in New York who combines a diverse array of global styles from Coupe Decale, Cumbia, Kuduro to Champeta.

We´ll play last from 1:00 til 3:00, expect a musical travel from the 60´s to current times with styles such as psychedelic Indonesian pop, Thai rock, Turkish garage n dubstep, Iranian technopop, Indian filmy songs, Saharan autotune, African electronic styles such as Coupé Décalé, Shangaan electro and much much more..

Fri 14 Sept; Rebel Up! Soundclash @ café De Vinger, Den Haag

hey folks,

After 5 years of existence, Rebel Up! has decided to invade downtown Den Haag. this friday we will have our first Rebel Up! Soundclash night in Agga @ café De Vinger. your Rebel Up! dj´s Palm M & Sebcat will be joined by Dubcovsky (Kako Da Ne/Casa Babilon). The city will rise this time to the global sound and fury of 3 stubborn DJs :

Sebcat (Be/NL) – The man has travelled and brought back loads of music from the outside world. He’ll introduce tribal and transcendental, Hi and Lo-fi tunes to your body n ears. anything goes from slow Greek Rebetika to swinging Nu Cumbia, vintage Ghanaian records, electro folk from the Sahel, Hausa autotune pop and unreleased Shangaan electro and much much more hotness….

Dubcovski (NL) – The guy has already worked its magic around the Netherlands but its main outpost is Utrecht where he and his kinds conflagrate various venues with their Neo Folk, Abstract Balkan waves. If you haven’t sweat all your fluids on the dancefloor yet. Be prepared to shake it madly with him. The trumpet flow never stops just like in Kusturica’s.

Palm M (Fr/NL) A French dude with a flair for good refreshing songs like Haïtian biguine, Surinamese hits, a slice of Brazilian new scene and some hidden tracks to clash as hell with his friends on stage.
