Hi there,
On Saturday the 25th we will organize yet another night of global fun. The end of summer sadly looms, but don’t return to your desks or classes before you can enjoy yourself at Rebel Up! This time we have no special live guest, though other musical nomads will always drop by unexpectedly and play their special selections. Perhaps our French nomad could bring back some surprises with him.
Keep your change at hand….any donation is a sweet gesture!
Please forward this to your interested friends, family, and network buddies, through word of mouth, digitally and so on. we hope to see you there! 🙂

The Amsterdam roots festival is about to start and this sunday there’s a free world music festival in the Oosterpark. See programme of the Roots Open Air day here.
Tips: go and see all-female Russian polka-punk band Iva Nova, the rumba mestiza of Zulu 9.30, the London-infused Algerian band Fantazia and the diasporic mashup sounds from Berlin’s Nomad Soundsystem.
On sunday the 24th of June, there will also be a free world music festival in the Julianapark in Utrecht. more info here.
Sundays are no lazy days in June 😀
Hi there,
Big thanks to the handfull of wonderful people who came out on the 25th of May, despite it being a hot day and night, and still created a good atmosphere!
We will have another Rebel Up! Soundclash on Friday the 29th of June, which promises to be an even better one. Especially since we will have a special live guest: Maga Bo, all the way from Rio de Janeiro and currently touring Europe bringing his *Transnational Bass sound*!
We will again have the Igitego Inyange organization as our charity for this night, as we didn’t raise much last time around due to the low turnout. So, let’s give it another chance! Keep your coins, small change or bigger notes ready…any donation is a sweet gesture! See further project information in previous posts.
If you wish to send info around, you can use this bit:

The chosen charity for friday the 25th is the Igitego Inyange project in Rwanda. This project has been initiated a few years ago by the Rwandese Anathalie Mukundwa and the Belgian VSO worker Vincent Thiry, to help a village in the poor Gahanda village region developing themselves in as many ways possible.
Their aim:
– To provide secundary education and arrange funds for university.
– Access to medical care for all , by paying insurance and visits at the doctor. A doctor has already been appointed to the village through donations.
– To build a centre in the town in the near future. This centre will serve as a medical and social centre and at the same time it provides the locals space to store, display and produce their handcrafts. Also tourist accomodation will be built to attract western visitors, so that locals can earn their livelihood through social tourism, without the intervention of package holiday agencies.
Please take a look at the Igitego Inyange website.
Below some impressions of Gahanda and the project.
