This weekend, triple Rebel Up action during 3 days of the Nuits Sonores festival in Brussels and the brocante day at Allee du Kaai. Busy programme indeed!

Starting on friday 28 sept > BRASS X REBEL UP, Night #1 / The Loop
Rebel Up curates an electro latino night for Nuits Sonores @ BRASS venue in Forest.

with an international lineup of live acts and deejays from the latin underground:
Nova Materia (CL/FR/ live), Usted (ES/ live), Meneo (GT/ live) and Rebel Up DJ’s, Muevelo DJ’s (AR/CL/FR) and Andr’s R (VZ).

Expect everything from experimental electro latino pop to 8 bit reggaeton, electropical, dembow, cumbia beats, moombahton and beyond!

Next day, saturday 29 sept, there is the brocante at Allee du Kaai with 2nd hand market, vinyl market, live concerts and dj sets.Rebel Up will be present with the vinyl distro but also spinning tunes during the afternoon on the Giraffe & Penguins soundsystem.

Les Amazones d’Afrique, Batida apresenta: The Almost Perfect DJ (PT), DJ Nigga Fox (PT / Principe), DJ Kampire (UG / Nyege Tapes) and Rebel Up Leblanc.

from Leblanc, expect an ethnic warm up opening dj set from western africa into the sahel and afterwards all night long global sounds, South-African electronic, western african traditional,  electro – kuduro mix and more.

Also on saturday evening, but not part of the festival, Rebel Up artists Babylon Trio will perform at the Ancienne Belgique, in the big room!

It’s the goodbye concert of Belgium’s punk post rock band Madensuyu, after 25 years.
Babylon Trio will open the evening with a live set at 19h, and we might even have some vinyls of their debut album ‘Habibi’ for sale! 🙂

Pantropical: tropical party night in Rotterdam with cumbia, latin bass, & more!

On the back of our Pan-Afro futuristic October edition, we turn our focus on chunky Latin American sounds; Cumbia (vintage/nu, Chicha, Sonidera, Villera), Latin Bass, and a pinch of bachata and merengue.

OSCILADOR BASS (MX | latin bass mexico)
This friendly Cumbia-bot has housewives and washing machines alike obsessing over him all across Latin America. Now his mission is to make crowds in the rest of the world follow suit during its upcoming EU / Asia trek. Oscilador Bass is all about creating the hottest Latin Bass, expertly mixing güiro rasps, cowbells and congas with the best spatial sound, all assembled with mucho amor in Mexico!

SONIDO MARTINES (AR)
Sonido Martines is the Argentine figurehead of the South American cumbia scenes. In his dj mixes, Argentine and Colombian Cumbia meet vintage Vallenato and Chicha, and Dub hits upon electronic music. He is a tireless seeker of lost vinyl records and remixer of Cumbia classics, shaking up the dancefloors with a wide selection of tropical music from all over Latin America. His DJ sets feature a wide array of vintage psychedelic cumbia and other tropical beat music, almost doubling as history lessons.

LEBLANC (BE | Rebel Up! / Pantropical)
Last seen & heard in February deconstructing the dancefloor at Pantropical with Pinchado and DØG. LeBlanc is one of the most pleasantly obsessed and knowledgeable purveyors of Non-western, tropical music for the Benelux. Together with Rebel Up! / Nightshop’s Sebcat he’s the co-curator for many great tropical events in Brussels (Recyclart, Beursschouwburg, Les Ateliers Claus, Bonnefooi etc.), and co-hosts the Nightshop radioshow on Radio Campus. Despite the dizzying number of subgenres LeBlanc uses for his DJ mixes, they’re always focused and highly dancable. Tonight’s set will include digital cumbia, dancehall, reggaeton and other global bass.

NO MUNCHI (NL/DO)
Spins his fave vintage Dominican tunes, including Bachata, Merengue, and Palo; reverb and effect drenched, to make things a bit more compatible with the other sounds on offer on this night.

CHRIS BRUINING (NL) & NIQUE QUENTIN (DE) – live percussion
The DJ sets will be spiced up with skilful live percussion played by Rotterdam based percussionists Chris Bruining (Gallowstreet, La Banda Fantastica), and Nique Quentin (Los Paja Brava / Doktor Schnitt). Chris recently played live with Dick El Demasiado at Pantropical in September.

Dearest friends. Seb & Olivier invite you to celebrate our double birthdays (4th march) this Saturday night at bar Tapas Soif, 10 days later…. The debauchery is programmed to start around 20h. There will be 2 concerts by some of Brussels most original artists (Mim and  The Lover Be), who else? And around that a whole lineup of sexy dj’s bringing you awesome dance tunes (Crazy Mwandishi, Dr Grimm, dj Pancho Leblanc, Darcyr and dj Pinchado (especially from Buenos Aires, Argentina)). An unknown amount of styles will pass through your ears > chicha cumbia, african tunes, hiphop, soul, rock, acid house, electro & surely more. We hope to greet many of you this Saturday. ▨ DJ PINCHADO (argentina)
One of our favorite DJ’s from below the equator! Pinchado is a specialist excavator of the finest cumbia and other tropical gems from the vaults of half-molten record jungles across Latin America. He edits these into fun lo-fi mixes, either slowed down (rebajadas) or lovingly left intact to be spinned in clubs around the globe. Pinchado is closely tied to Holland’s own Dick El Demasiado, who released on Pinchado’s own Silbando Discos (next to the flamboyant Peruvian singer and hairdresser La Tigresa del Oriente).

▨ DJ LEBLANC (bruxelles | Rebel Up!, nightshop)
This man from is beyond a shadow of doubt one of the most pleasantly obsessed and knowledgeable purveyors of Non-western, tropical music for the Benelux. Together with Sebcat he’s the co-curator for many great tropical events in Bruxelles (Salle Rogier, Bonnefooi, Recyclart, etc.), and co-hosts the Nightshop radioshow for Radio Campus. DØG exists in multiple spaces simultaneously, raised in global suburbs, based in digital realms, sometimes visual other times musical. DØG divides his time between geeking out with A/V installations (as ‘ehCaetano’), and über-dancable DJ sessions as one of DØG’s multiple incarnations. This night he’ll serve up a high-octane mix of funk carioca, ghetto house, afro, and juke, with a pinch of tecnomelody and lambada. Heavy beats from the west suburbs of the planet.

Dj BBrave alias Benjamin Lebrave is the man behind Akwaaba Music – THE label to promote all kinds of new African electronic dance music from the source.
