Wed 29 May: Rebel Up @ Luzafrolicious: Fundraiser party for Mozambique, Platform241, Bxl

This wednesday evening, NGO Amigos de Moçambique invite you all to come and dance to Lusophone African music served by Rebel Up DJ’s Sebcat & LeBlanc and DJ Mukambo with live percussion by Rojah Lao.

There will also be a photo & art exhibition, plenty of drinks and room to talk about what happened in Mozambique. The evening starts at 20h with a drink and the vernissage of the expo.

All revenue will go to an association in Beira (Mozambique) to help rebuild the country after the devastating floods & winds caused by cyclone Idai.

Since 2008 he organizes the monthly Global Funk Parties and he presents the weekly Boom Shaka Laka radio show on Radio Gaztea since 2005. In Brussels he’ll bring Denis Barzaga with him, Cuban percussionist from Guantanamo to serve mix of hot Caribbean and tropical sounds, from classic to modern, genre-crossing, with his Global Funk Soundsystem.

Transformation, creation & influences from the Portuguese colonies with a huge variety of rhythms, sounds from black Africa, a fusion of reggae and a wide range of instruments from various parts of the world. Started in 1999 in Lisbon. The ‘cidade do fado’ is being more and more open and multicultural, and no one better represents that cultural diversity than Terrakota, influenced by the rising cultural diversity brought by the immigrant populations and musicians from the ancient Portuguese colonies. Nominated a world music best bands by Songlines magazine in 2011. Not to be missed. We advice to buy your ticket in advance.

Like he says > “when I play it’s like an orchestra in itself”. Expect fireworks of pure african big band sound on stage.
