hey all! This thursday 20 march we organise a special Rebel Up Records label evening at the Ancienne Belgique club room in Bxl centre!
With 2 concerts, by Brazilian group Satanique Samba Trio to celebrate their new release on 21.03 on the start of their European tour, and a warmup show by Brussels duo Trance Plantations. DJ support by SebCat & Drache MuMu.
Satanique Samba Trio is an instrumental avant-garde quintet (yep, not really a trio), founded in 2003 with the sole purpose to be an idiosyncratic force on the Brazilian musical landscape. No Brazilian traditional rhythm remains unscathed on Satanique Samba Trio’s trail of desecration. From samba to forró, from bossa nova to lambada and carimbó, this Brasília-based quintet (sometimes sextet) has been adding virulence, dissonance and provocation to Brazil’s musical heritage. Their efforts on deconstructing Brazilian music’s most persistent clichés have resulted in 15 records so far. After a (post-)covid hiatus, they finally hit Europe again to promote their upcoming 7-inch vinyl .‘Cursed Brazilian Beats Vol. 1’, to be released on the Brussels label Rebel Up! Records. The 7inch will be available at the show!
And afterwards we do a Rebel Up x ECHT! afterparty @ Bonnefooi bar, as ECHT! also plays their new album release concert in the big room of the Ancienne Belgique. Expect a full lineup with underground electronic & global sounds by SebCat, Papelón Kifesh, Moon Yé and DJ Erd.

Saturday 8 Feb > Rebel Up Soundclash! present: FARIDA AMADOU& FRIENDS (ex-Cocaine Piss) | SPIRITCZUALIC ENHANCEMENT CENTER (Akuphone) | REBEL UP! DJ’S OCCII do-it-yourself mysticism | musical ritualism | €8 in before 22:00 / €10 after! No presale,
FARIDA AMADOU& Friends (BE, ex-Cocaine Piss) Farida Amadou is a Liège, Belgium based bass player, most well known for being part of the punk band Cocaine Piss and for her free improv sets with Steve Noble. Since 2014, she has performed with many musicians all over Europe, including Linda Sharrock, Balasz Pandi, Jasper Stadhouders, Peter Brötzmann, Mette Rasmussen and Thurston Moore, TONiGHTS FRiENDS Include; Terrie Hessels (The Ex) on Guitar & Frank Rosaly (US) on Drums. Listen here and here.
SPIRITCZUALIC ENHANCEMENT CENTER (Akuphone) Giving birth via impromptu instrumentals to glimpses of synchronistic magic, these Spiritczualics remain agnostic: are they magicians, or merely charlatans? Spiritczualic Enhancement Center is an outernational movement. A traveling nexus collecting dozens of participants to explore alchemical realms of sonic ritualism. Fusing DIY electronics with experimental improvisation and traditional instruments, recurring collaborators have studied under masters of Andalusian music, ethno-music research as well as important underground venues in Berlin and Hamburg’s musical scenes. Visual artist Dima Rabik contributes his miniature ink drawing style to all Spiritczualic releases – as well as a live-drawing projection during performances.
Spiritczualic (“cz” borrowed from the Polish / tʂ / hard “tch”) – a word-melange of “ritczualic” and spiritual, reflects upon the ancient practice of musical ritualism. As an idea, it greatly predates the physical occurrence of the Enhancement Center – on Christmas 2017, when an Ottoman building below the Gates of Jerusalem provided itself for a remarkable meeting. The trespassing people who happened to be there – admittingly bizarre participants synchronized by state-of-mind rather than tune or scale – began exploring sonic sessions of do-it-yourself mysticism. Witnesses of its ritualistic gatherings have indeed reported moments of divination – and possibly sorcery. This raises the question, will the audience once again behold the allurement of Higher Sources – or rather testify to trickery.“ Listen here and here.
