new Kaito Winse album out “Reele Bumbou”!

Friday 21 Feb the new Kaito Winse album “Reele Bumbou” was released on Rebel Up Records & Zephyrus Records. Spiritual folk sounds from ancestral power.

Kaito Winse is a singer, dancer, and multi-instrumentalist, but above all, he is the guardian of the rich oral traditions of his homeland. Born in the middle of the desert into a family of griots in Lankoué, a village in the Sourou region of northern Burkina Faso, Kaito inherited a legacy as natural as bending down to pick up the soil beneath his feet. From an early age, he was immersed in the traditions of his family, steeped in the history, proverbs, and ancestral wisdom of his people.

As a modern jeli or griot, Kaito is the bearer of a thousand lives and a thousand deaths, the relay of oral tradition, and the custodian of ancient words and waking dreams that he transforms into music. His inspiration draws its essence from his native village, anchoring his artistic concepts in optimism and resilience.

Between proverbs and ancient sayings, music and dance, Kaito Winse’s new work is an invitation to find strength in the face of life’s trials. Armed with a versatile skillset, he plays an array of instruments—calabash, mouth bow, Peul flute, toutlé flute, and the tama, a drum known for mimicking human speech.
