Sadly, this is our LAST EVER party night at De Vinger, as it soon will be closed and demolished, what a shame 🙁
We will be joined by our new Rebel Up! member DJ DUCKFOOD who will Heat Up the dancefloor for you to freely run, jive, and just dance for the hell of it. As usual, expect a fine Rebel Up! mix of old and gritty tunes with newer weirder than ever music from all around the globe: Calypso, Soukouss, Cumbia, Desert tunes and other genres in the making.
The entrance fee should be 3€ but it can also be more if you feel like helping out this bar De Vinger which as always intended to be just an open stage for young and less young local and international artists. Just providing what has become a rarity in Den Haag : a venue for alternative music.
Rebel Up! SebCat will be busy 2 days touring Netherlands festivals with the Congolese Brussels band Yan Koy & Color Rumba and also dj-ing on the side. Fun fun fun!
On friday 18 july the fun starts in Nijmegen at the Valkhof festival, when at 21:00h Yan Koy & Color Rumba will play their heavy rumba & soukous sound at De Boog stage. At 22:30 Rebel Up! If you have seen Color Rumba in action at our night in Amsterdam last year or in Rotterdam, you know how wild it can get 🙂

Hope you had a good summer holiday where it might have taken you. Oh boy, it’s been roasty warm and sunny here the last few weeks. Time for another Rebel Up! Soundclash and we’ll keep it hot with some tropical Afro-Caribbean action with live Surinami band Lobi Firi and Ozzie global guest dj Unsoundbwoy from Melbourne.
Surinami band Lobi Firi will play their very special kaseko funk and kawina sound, impossible not to dance til you sweat! The band will start around midnight, so get in on time. http://www.lobifiri.com
Unsoundbwoy will play a grinding selection between heavy dancehall and african electronic dance music, kuduro and more. Check some of his excellent mixes and mashups! http://soundcloud.com/unsoundbwoy
And the some, ofcourse the Rebel Up! dj’s will never miss out on a good Soundclash party. Expect a steady selection of unknown global tunes filled with sweet melodies for the ear or bouncing bass for the body. Watch out that you don’t get wrongfooted playing hopscotch with these onorthodox boy scouts.
Any profit on the night will go to NGO Bhakti Luhur in Eastern Java, which takes care of handicapped children. One of the aid workers is a dutchman who runs the excellent Madrotter Treasure Hunt blog, all about Indonesian pop, rock and folk music.
