For this special night we’ll have a female DJ line-up with DJ Nadia Rodrigues (NL / Cabo Verde), Rrita Jashari (54KOLAKTIV), La Sirocco (Radio Panik), Rebel Up PussyCat, La Grande Méchante Louve, Tropical DJipsies & Maria Ilia (video mapping).

Pantropical resident DJ Nadia Rodrigues has been active in the Rotterdam Afro-scene for about seven years now. She switches effortlessly between sounds related to her Cape Verdean roots, Gqom, Afrohouse, and other styles.

Rrita Jashari is first and foremost a music-passionate-person. She’s been involved in musical projects and has been collecting vinyl for years now. Rrita is one of the founders of the Brussels based 54KOLAKTIV and 54 Sound, a Jamaican style handcrafted soundsystem. In her sets, she blends sounds from various eras and areas, ranging from experimental, ethnical and underground music to dancefloor hits or even more poppy music – all of this depending on her mood, the context, place, public and the things she’s been listening to in that specific phase of her life. As long as the music touches us and makes us groove… No music purism here!

Maria Ilia is a Greek Brussels-based freelance architect and visual artist.
Her experience in architecture came together with her passion for visuals to develop sophisticated and colorful video mapping on handmade structures for events and festivals. Over the last year she’s been a close and frequent collaborators of both Giraffes & Penguins and Global Hybrid Records.

a busy saturday coming up on 11/11 with 3 events where Rebel Up will spin global tunes.
Starting at Kiosk Radio opening party in the afternoon.
as of Saturday 11 November a new internet radio will be airing in Brussels, video-streaming live from a wooden kiosk @ Parc Royal, every afternoon, every day of the week! To celebrate this, an opening party from 12 til 22h.

Kiosk Radio will be first and foremost a community of music lovers. Kiosk will be collaborating with some of the finest Brussels & Belgian-based DJs, labels and collectives, also hosting some (really special!) international guests from time to time. Tune in and join our community!  Each month, Rebel Up will host a 2 hour session with special guests and always good global tunes.

Then from 23h onwards, our 3rd Giraffes & Penguins party in alternative space Collectif Au Quai, with special guest duo Pal/Secam from Amsterdam!

Pål/Secam is an Amsterdam based Dutch/French DJ duo, who spread the intercontinental PAN-AMAFROPEANS sound on the local dance floors. The two joined forces in 2011 after dj-ing solo for several years. Their sets are infused by the elements of surprise and excitement, in terms of mixing in another genre, from New York deep disco to early 80’s hip hop, Congolese rumba, oldschool electro, Cape Verdean Funaná or Kenyan Benga music.. There is no end. This is the PAN-AMAFROPEAN sound, as they like to call it. Pål/Secam developed their own style based on groove, international groove. With a mission to break musical boundaries by creating a diverse colourful pattern that tickles ears and feet.

Yearly benefit for the people without borders.  Last year the benefit gathered more than 1500€ for several Collectives without papers. This year they are doing the same!
