Couleur Café might be on this weekend in Brussels, but it’s a not so interesting edition and already finishing around midnight. So it’s time for some rougher world colours in a global dancehall and bass style for a real tropical party till the early morning light! Hosted by the all-female Tropical Boobs crew from Brussels, known from their wild global bass nights, in collaboration with Rebel Up! and Silver Canary. Expect everything from roots dancehall to cumbia, afro styles, folkloric beats, baile funk, trap and bass by these artists & crews >

Maga Bo (BR) & MC Teba (SA); ethnic bass & global dancehall
We’re proud to announce 2 special international guests on our night. Globetrotting producer Maga Bo hails from Rio de Janeiro and is one of the godfathers of the ‘global bass’ sound before the name had even been invented, having worked with artists from all around Africa and Latin America. His recent 2012 album *Quilombo do Future* features a modern Brazilian sound where he merged regional Afro folkloric styles from the Nordeste together with modern electronic dancehall beats, a true futuristic melting pot for the global dancefloor! MC Teba from Cape Town, South Africa, will perform duties on the mic during Maga Bo’s live set. Yep, be warned; it’s gonna be hot, steamy and wild.

The Silver Canary is a Brussel based Soundsystem consisting of a international crew of dj´s and singers who organise roots nights in Matongé and other venues allover the city. The Canary brings you a deadly cocktail of underground Caribbean-Jamaican music to quench you thirst to dance. Everything from rocksteady up to raggamuffin!

Since 2010, the Rebel Up! crew organises not-for-profit Soundclash parties in Brussels as fundraisers for small NGO´s. These rebels dive into many different local music styles from all around the world, whether it be ethnic, urban or a mash of folk, pop and contemporary electronic dance music. On this night their global sound will be all things uptempo bass & tropical.

Time is Up to put on your shiniest shoes and prepare to move your legs in all kinds of directions,

On Saturday, the 4th of May Rebel Up! is back in Café De Vingerin The Hague to honor the return of the Sun (and the King, why not?) and deliver as usual our fittest sound from the global underground.

The deal is simple as usual, we ask you just a bit of money to help for one last time our friends from the Kenyan ONG Watoto Wa Baraka (more info available on www.africanorphanage.org) and in exchange we guaranty to keep you dancing, smiling, mingling with fun people and just have a good time, like in a good friends party. It will groove for sure with Up and Down tempo from Africa, mashing guitars from Sahara, Brass bands from around the Mediterranean coasts and many rhythms from Brazil, Argentina y Columbia and the Caribbean. We’ll go crescendo to let you go in trance into heavy bass lines towards the end of our show.

Rebel Up! time again in Brussels this thursday night 20 december, just before the holiday season kicks off.
Christmas time brings out one’s most charitable side and so Bonnefooi will organise a fundraiser for a project in Brussels to host homeless people.The project called “Leeggoed” creates an alternative for people with housing problems in a city where the housing crises strikes ruthlessly. The money of the fundraiser will be used to create a space where a diverse group of homeless people can be sheltered temporarily, a space from where they can create a more stable and certain future. Ahoy folks,

This friday another heavy Nightshop party coming up at Recyclart; a special Tel Aviv massiv’ party with multi-producer Sabbo, the Ethiopian/Yemen duo Axum and DJ Prince of Persia, supported by local Brussels wizard DJ Mellow (Low Up) and our Dutch friends of the Bomb Diggy crew. Also our very own Sebcat will be filling in for Brussels Up! buddy Leblanc (who had to cancel due to a southern trip), he´ll be doing the warm up slot from 23h till midnight, so be early if you want to catch some unheard Middle Eastern electronics and other new stuff. Hello hello,

It has been a while since we sadly had to cancel our december night due to unforeseen reasons, but we’re back with fresh energies to give you a special night of Rebel Up! sounds. Not our Congolese rumba night as previously promised, that one will happen in June! This will be a *global psyche night*, meaning we will focus on experimental & improvised global sounds as well as vintage pop/rock spheres from the 60’s and 70’s from different corners of the world. Ofcourse we’ll also give you a nice dose of heavy bass deeper into the night to big up the Rebel Up! kaleidoscope.

We’re happy to announce our special American guest Arrington de Dionyso (ex-Old Time Relijun, the psychedelic krautrock band from overseas & Malaikat dan Singa) who will bring his trans-utopian throatsinging, bass clarinet, inspired by Indonesian trance music as a live improvisation of global psychedelic proportions. Be warned, his sound will go deep into your soul and liberate it with shamanic power. Check out his outerwordly sounds; www.arrington.bandcamp.com

Our second guest will travel from less far Brussels, Belgium. DJ Lowdjo is an eclectic wizard of the sort that totally fits the Rebel Up! mood and we’re also happy to have him joining our global cause of diasphoric sound. He will play special vintage sets of Thai folk funk and Turkish psychedelic rock straight out of his 45’s collection that will get everyone swinging. Check his active blog and mixcloud for some of his fine mixes.

As always, the Rebel Up! crew will play electic ethnic sound and everything in between to make you listen & dance while our visuals will make sure there’s never a dull moment on the dancefloor.

The charity of the night where we will donate our profits to is NGO Bhakti Luhur in Malang, Eastern Java, which takes care of handicapped children. One of the aid workers is a dutchman who runs the excellent Madrotter blog, all about Indonesian pop, rock and folk music from the past with quality uploads, though since the whole megaupload bust his blog has been relocated at Madrotter Treasure Hunt.
