The second edition of Giraffes & Penguins >>> afterparty of Nanobrasserie de l’Ermitage – Opening Party just nearby in Anderlecht (“à un jet de bière”)
We’ll go on a musical exploration trip from the giraffes’ groovy *highlife* to the penguins’ psychedelic throat songs! The journey will start at 10pm @ Au Quai (next to Dépôt Design).
Your guides will be Coco Maria (Mexico / Berlin), Rebel Up SebCat, Le Grand Méchant Loop & DJ Chokkou.
Coco Maria (MX/Berlin)
Coco Maria is a colourful lady from the north of Mexico shaking down the Berlin tropical scene with her classy and funky record collection mainly from Colombia, Brazil, Peru and beyond. Her upbeat selection will at the very least put a smile on your face but watching Coco Maria enjoy herself on the decks, completes the experience and makes non-believers dance till the sun sets in the new world.
Rebel Up SebCat (Bxl)
Rebel Up is a household name in Brussels through their party nights of contemporary *world* music and electronic ethnic sounds in many venues. Expect a wild set of the freshest African, Latino & global sounds.
Le Grand Méchant Loop (Bxl)
Philippe Nullens aka Le Grand Méchant Loop is a DJ and percussionist based in Brussels. He’s passionate about world music and has built over the years a large collection of songs from almost everywhere. He will take us on a surprising journey, spiced up with live percussions, where West-African griots meet Colombian gaiteros or Pakistani nomads… So let’s get ready for a musical patchwork full of groove that will move our little pigs’ pawls, because as he says, “I prefer to make pigs dance rather than eat them!”
DJ Chokkou (Bxl)
Poet, eclectic spirit, between Dominican bloodlines and Italian culture, Dany aka Dj Chokkou is a DJ, singer, organisor and radio host. Raised in Trieste (Italy), he moved to Brussels to be part of community radio, start concerts and socio-cultural activities. Expect all dance flavours of afro and latin music.
