Eurabia V poster

Presented by ∆ Cairo Liberation Front ∆, with performances of:
Rebel Up! Soundclash

This dj-crew from Bruxelles/Rotterdam is well known for selecting the best global sounds from the underground; from African beats to Middle-Eastern house and from Turkish disco to Latino bass. Next to playing shows they’re pushing the best music from all over the globe by organizing parties in RecycleArt & OCCII, where they invite artists from all over the world.

Ramses3000 b2b Ray Fields

You might know Ramses3000 as the dj of Cairo Liberation Front, who started playing solo to show the audience what the world has got the offer besides electro-cha3bi. For this Eurabia night he invited friend and fellow towny Ray Fields to join him for an exclusive b2b-set. Expect a pumpin’ mix with the finest electronics combined with world music and Middle-Eastern jams.

AFRIKABOOMNADA

These brothers from Eindhoven are the residents of Het Wild, their own club night where they invited artists like Flako, Kutmah & DJ Nigga-Fox. Next to organizing parties you could have seen them behind the decks at festivals like Mysteryland, BungalUp & Paaspop. After they played the last edition of Eurabia in EKKO, we know for sure; we had to ask them back.

As it is also Ramadan, we’ll serve sweet mint tea too! And yeah, we can tell you that this will be the wildest party of the summer 🙂

We’ll start dj-ing outside on the square at 22:00 for 1 hour, then at 23:00 the music and concerts will be inside the venue, just 5€ euro’s in.

here’s the roll down of the times & artists >

Hakim is a Moroccan violin player, composer and arranger who worked with the Antwerp band Think Of One for their album Camping Chaabi, an exploration of Moroccan popular dance music, chaabi. Hakim will play different Moroccan styles in trio (violin, synth, voice).

01:00 > 02:30 ORCHESTRE ROUANY (MA/FR – live)
This French-Moroccan five piece band around singer/violin player Younes Rouany is a hard hitting chaabi dance machine. Their sound is based on oriental synths, darbouka, bendir, violin and electronic drums.

Sat. 20 Apr; Rebel Up! Soundclash Sufi/Electro Chaabi night w/ Ali Kawa Brothers & Qawwali Party (IN) + Cairo Liberation Front

rebelup_2013 04 20 web

After last week’s amazing night with Konono No1, a fresh Soundclash night coming up @ OCCII again! It will be a special eastern/arabic theme night with mystical Sufi/Qawwali music from India, revolution electro Shabi sounds, dabke from the middle east and much much more!!!!

Ali Kawa Brothers & Qawwali Party (IN)
trancedental Sufi & Qawwali music by muscians from Rajasthan, near to the border with Pakistan. Their special sound is filled with mystical spheres and islamic healing power that takes your mind and body to a distant place. Expect some deep resonating vocals, strong tabla rhythms and hypnotic vibes. They will play around midnight, so don’t come late!

Caïro Liberation Front
something is brewing in the rougher neighbourhoods of Caïro; young producers are making new electronic music called electro shabi (or sha3i), a rough sound that combines dancehall influences with Egyptian techno folk with a heavy political undercurrent. CLF has collected the best dance tunes of all these new producers, so this calls for a revolution party, YALLA!

We are also joined by our buddy Process Rebel (US) who will play his dancehall selections with an eastern-arabic vibe.

As always, the Rebel Up! dj’s will fill the gaps with their own blend of global sounds, in this case only pure asian n arabic sounds from vintage and modern times.
