Rebel Up! fusion Amsterdam < > Brussels

Hello all,

bit of news; our Rebel Up! dj compadre Riquetik is on his way to Budapest for the next 4 years and it is a real pity that we have to wave him goodbye for now.

A bit of new changes coming up on the Rebel Up! front as we try to keep it fresh both in Amsterdam and Brussels by letting in some new musical blood. After the summer, Rebel Up! will embrace the dj crew from Brussels Up! Soundsystem, which is Sebcat‘s global Brussels project that was started over a year ago with dj’s LeBlanc, Darcyr and Sonidero Quilombo. It will be much easier to continue under one name and from now on Rebel Up! will be more represented in Brussels besides Amsterdam so that we can keep on throwing good parties for you!

don’t forget, next Rebel Up! Soundclash will be saturday 25th of August @ OCCII Amsterdam, followed by saturday 27th october. More news soon!

This Saturday 21st, a new global bass party is born in Antwerp; BABACA!

Hosted by the Tsigani guys, the night will be in the Magiq Spiegeltent at Noordkasteel, kicking off at 21:00 til the 6:00 morning light. The lineup consists of Belgian global bass dj’s, specialised in different parts of the world; Max Le Daron (Low Up recs), Kobe Louis Charles (Tsigani), Captain Steel (Tsigani/(Low Up recs), LeBlanc (Brussels Up!) and ofcourse your very own Rebel Up! Sebcat. Expect everything bass from digital dancehall to bashment,  reggaeton, electrocumbia, sonidero, tecnobrega, swingeira, baile funk,  3bal guarachero, moombahton, kuduro, juke, dakbe, halparke and many other bass styles.

Before 23:00, it’s cheaper to get in > roll the dice and the number is what you pay. a 6 gets you in for FREE! After 23:00 it’s 5€ in

a quick Brussels shoutout for 2 upcoming evenings/nights.

This Thursday 29 march @ KultuurKaffee, there’s another free KK World night; a special Suriname night! The Suriname/Dutch bands Kara Dara and Lobi Firi from Amsterdam will play their special kaseko funk and kawina styles which have heavy roots in west-African musical soil, but with a seriously latin/caribbean twist to it. doors open at 19:30, bands on around 20:30.

On Thursday 5th of april @ cafe Bonnefooi is another special free night; our good friends of the Brussels Up! soundsystem are supporting cumbia dancehall duo Fauna from Buenos Aires (ZZK records, AR) who will play a live set. It´s free in!
Fauna expected to be on somewhere after midnight, check out their neo-tropical flashy video, oh!

-without Rebel Up dj Sebcat though, as he´s travelling and spinning here and there in Brazil & Argentina the next 4 weeks-

Ahoy folks,

This friday another heavy Nightshop party coming up at Recyclart; a special Tel Aviv massiv’ party with multi-producer Sabbo, the Ethiopian/Yemen duo Axum and DJ Prince of Persia, supported by local Brussels wizard DJ Mellow (Low Up) and our Dutch friends of the Bomb Diggy crew. Also our very own Sebcat will be filling in for Brussels Up! buddy Leblanc (who had to cancel due to a southern trip), he´ll be doing the warm up slot from 23h till midnight, so be early if you want to catch some unheard Middle Eastern electronics and other new stuff. Brussels Up! & Les Ateliers Claus present a ZZK Records label night with special guests Tremor, Mati Zundel (aka Lagartijeano) and El G. I’s gonna be a clash between cumbia riddims, electro folklore from the andes region, dub and urban sounds. Argentina 2.0, that’s for sure! ohlala, thank you all for coming out last saturday, we raised 140€ for Seed Samburu, big up!

last monday our Rebeluppalite dj SebCat did a radio session in the Radio Taxi programme at Urgent FM student radio as part of Rebel Up!/Brussels Up special with buddy dj Leblanc. We arrived 10 minutes late because of a minor car accident. Listen to it here >>>
