This thursday, Rebel Up SebCat & Drache Musicale will spin warm up & afterparty tunes at the album launch of Brussels based tuareg rock band Kel Assouf in Ancienne Belgique. On friday 15 feb their album ‘Black Tenere’ will be released on the international label Glitterbeat, so this is the true avant premiere!
About that: After their acclaimed album Tikounen, Kel Assouf return with an even more transformative collection: Black Tenere. Produced by the band’s keyboardist Sofyann Ben Youssef, the mastermind behind the highly touted AMMAR 808, the new album strips things back to a power trio lineup and focuses on the crackling, forward-looking energy of Nigerien front man Anana Ag Haroun’s next level Kel Tamashek (Tuareg) rock songs, aided by percussionist Olivier Penu. Listen here to the opening tune or check out this live video from a few months ago.

This friday, an Brazilian traditional electronic night at Recyclart!
Sociedade Recreativa arose from the meeting between Maga Bo and the French-Brazilian trio ‘Forro de rebeca’. Lovely airy music (live accordion and violin) from the tradition of the Nordeste (Samba de Coco, Capoeira, Baiao, Maracatu …) discrete but deadly effective mixed with the electronics of Maga Bo. https://sociedaderecreativa.bandcamp.com
closing the night with an electro-roots set > Maga Bo needs no introduction: one of the ‘founding fathers’ of the tropical bass, drenched deep in Brazilian rhythms (maracatu, samba reggae, capoeira …), with dark bass lines and thick layers of percussion. An example of a fluid interaction between organic and electronic sounds, inspired by hip hop and the soundsystem culture – but also by the middle east and the rest of your earthquake. https://magabo.com
