This tuesday at Brasserie de la Mule (Schaarbeek), concert of Tamasheq desert rock group TisDass from Niger, presenting their new album Houmaïssa, (listen here).
Tisdass is the band of singer-guitarist Moussa Kildjate Albadé. Based in Niamey and originally from Tchintabaraden, an emblematic town of the kel tamasheq of Niger. Growing up to the sounds of Tinariwen, Bob Marley and Dire Strait that his father listened to, the desire to fight with words and guitars came after a trauma. As a child, he saw his country’s army kill part of his family, even though they sang of the freedom of a people and the hope of better days for an ancient culture. He understands that weapons only cause misfortune and like the pioneers of Tuareg blues, he learns the guitar and writes songs in order to make peace and independence possible for his people.
Listen here to their older album Yamedan on Sahel Sounds and their previous 2019 album Amanar via Spotify.
In the aftermath of the devastating earthquakes in the High Atlas region of Morocco, we will run a fundraiser relief action at Rebel Up for the next 2 weeks.
All digital purchases of below mentioned releases will be donated to the NGO Karama Solidarity, who are based here in Molenbeek around the block from where we are based. Karama means ‘dignity’ in arabic. The NGO is run by Brussels Moroccan citizens and volunteers and is active in Morocco and in the regions that have been hit the hardest.
Donations will be used to help victims in Morocco meet the most urgent needs immediately detected on the ground by Karama’s teams. Currently, the victims need medical care, food but also resettlement. Hundreds of thousands of Moroccans of all ages no longer have a roof over their heads and have lost all or part of their families. Karama prefers purchases made locally, which require less logistics than imports and are less expensive and which also help the local economy.

𝐁𝐥𝐞𝐞𝐩𝐨𝐥𝐚𝐫 (𝐂𝐎) Luis Felipe Hernandez aka Bleepolar is a DJ / producer hailing from Colombia, bridging the gap between organic and electronic music. As he develloped as an artist, he kept widening his inspirations to afro-latin music in general, and lately dived into the new sounds of urban Africa, focusing on genres like Afrohouse and Amapiano, while keeping the deep, minimal and elegant electronic aesthetic that became his signature sound. https://www.bleepolar.com/ https://bleepolar.bandcamp.com/
