Lots of good dj’s and even some live acts. From our side, we invited our Italian producer friend Ribongia who is on tour and this will be his only live dj set in Belgium! Expect a set filled with electro marimba sounds & African juke beats. Also live set by Singularity A.I., Baby Talk and many other kewl dj’s.

This saturday a nice double concert by Tuareg bands Terakaft & Mdou Moctar!
Molenbeek! A cultural and artistic melting pot, a young and dynamic neighborhood filled with action and movement. Café Quartier is a meeting place where a stage is presented to (young) talent, ideas and initiatives.
Café Quartier XXL is a new concept: an expansion of the profile of the VK. Its main idea is to offer a true cross-over, in music, on stage and in the crowd. The bands on the stage will provide a mix between underground and Maghrebi music and will offer an experience which represents the spirit of Molenbeek!

Hailing from Mali the Tuareg band Terakaft (meaning “The Caravan”) are regarded as the pioneers of desert rock. No other band from the desert is closer to Tinariwen than Terakaft.
‘Alone’ is the fifth album of Terakaft. Recorded partly at the famous Real World Studios, the album was produced by Justin Adams, the British musician/ producer who has delved deep into Tuareg music, and is known through his work with Robert Plant, Tinariwen and Juldeh Camara. In these troubled times, they have made an album together, that presents the deep Saharan rhythms as a vital contemporary heartbeat. Standing on the ruins of their people’s dreams they sing to their brothers and sisters about true friendship and tolerance.

MDOU MOCTAR (NG)
In the somewhat crowded scene of Tuareg guitarists, Mdou stands apart from his peers. One of the few original singer/songwriters willing to experiment and push the boundaries of the genre, his unconventional styles have won him accolades both in Niger and abroad. Mdou Moctar hails from Abalak, in the Azawagh desert of Niger.
In 2013, he released his first international album, “Afelane”, rocking and raw sessions recorded live at his hometown in Niger and earlier this year his fictional biography movie “Akounak Tedalat Taha Tazoughai”, an amazing rockfilm in the Tamasheq language.

Dälek’s music is dark, noisy and atmospheric, equally inspired by industrial music like Einstürzende Neubauten, the layered noise of My Bloody Valentine and the dense sound collages of Public Enemy. Their sound is often constructed through sampling and a musical base atypical of most hip hop, making it difficult for people to classify their sound. They have been described as trip-hop, glitch-hop, metal, shoegaze, and hip-hop, as well as being criticized for their broad range of sound. This recent video is about the American police agression against black Americans.
◢◤ LORN (US – NINJA TUNE, BRAINFEEDER)
Marcos Ortega, better known by his stage name Lorn, is an American electronic musician. The name also means lonely and abandoned, which best describes the music from this artist. Lorn signed with Flying Lotus’ label, Brainfeeder, in 2009 and released his debut album, Nothing Else, in June 2010. He released his second album, Ask The Dust, on Ninja Tune in 2012. He recently released three series of “The Maze To Nowhere”, a dozen songs collection, between 2014 and 2015.

Nestling snugly in the annals of contemporary rap history between Anticon’s reinvention of hip-hop and Kanye’s postscript to the genre lies the formation of Arizona’s noise rap duo Moodie Black!
