Friday 19 July: Rebel Up @ Recyclart Holidays with concerts Echoes Of Zoo + Cyril Cyril, Recyclart, Bxl

yes yes, Recyclart Holidays festival is back again!
in the new venue with the renovated rooms and big pavé courtyard. food, music, drinks and more.

This friday a real special night with 2 live concerts between punk jazz, psyche folk and many other outernational sounds. and a Rebel Up dj set before, between & afterparty.

Echoes Of Zoo (BE)
Belgian jazz cat quartet with a animalistic punk jazz sound. Spearheaded by Nathan Daems (Black Flower), Falk Schrauwen, Bart Vervaeck and Lieven van Pée. Sometimes beastly violent, then again erudite & delicate. The generosity of the band works radically contagious on audiences. With echoes from the Balkans, the middle east but just as much from the nervous urban context. In other words, our village fanfare, which is an ode to the hybridity of Molenbeek. Listen here.

Cyril Cyril (CH)
Ancestral sounds from the underbelly of psychedelic folk. The duo Cyril Cyril (of La Tene / Bongo Joe Records) produces sounds that make you long for a nomadic existence in unknown mountains. Armed with a banjo, guitar, drum kit and prophetic words, they take us like a phoenix to the dance floor. Listen to their album here.

Rebel Up will mix up raw punk with spiritual jazz to outernational psychedelic beauties and ethnic folklore.

Rebel Up DJ’s SebCat & LeBlanc will play dj support at the Nyege Nyege Tapes night @ VK Concerts in Molenbeek.

a night with underground sounds from central & eastern Africa.
With live sets by Uganda acholitronix duo Otim Alpha, Disco Vumbi and the Trance Parents Orkestra!

Afterwards from midnight onwards til late, Rebel Up SebCat will play at Bonnefooi for the BRDCST festival afterparty, together with Kornelia Binicewicz (of Ladies on Records / Turkish Ladies compilation). Expect a flurry of heavy global sounds. Also with a mystery African DJ guest. Curious? come.

this thursday 20th, there will be another live session of Rebel Up & Friends @ Kiosk Radio from 16-18h, with special guest Andres R (Venezuela) and a set of latin bass. Expect eclectic vinyl sounds from the Rebel Up side. Come join us on the park terrace for an apero drink or follow the set on the livestream via Kiosk Radio site or Rebel Up FB.


Friday 21st, Rebel Up SebCat will play in the courtyard of the new Recyclart in Molenbeek, together with DJ Charlotte PéPé. The courtyard sessions are the moment to get to know the new Recyclart venue in the Rue De Manchester, as a sort of get together apero session. Be sure that we will take you for a ride of global & eclectic sounds!

This Thursday evening, concert + dj support by Rebel Up! @ VK.

Tunisian singer-songwriter Jawhar, known for his critically acclaimed album Qibla Wa Qobla, surprises us with yet an entirely new project: hypnotic, psychedelic and avant-garde electro-chaâbi music with a twist. Yallah Bye! is a rather unlikely musical encounter between an international icon of Rom culture, Mónika « Mitsou » Miczura (Ando Drom, Bratsch, Fanfare Ciocarlia) and the oriental folk/pop musician Jawhar. Based largely on new songs that Jawhar created for Yallah Bye! as well as pieces of Mitsou’s repertoire, this new creation is so much more than a clash of cultures.

This Friday evening a special evening in underground venue Le Lac (Molenbeek, not to confuse with Les Ateliers Claus)

Phoenician Drive (Bxl)
At the crossroads of Mediterranean folk music and psychedelic rock, Phoenician Drive was formed in summer 2015 by percussionist Diego Moscoso grouping 6 musicians from very different backgrounds (flamenco, Balkan, psychedelic rock’n’roll, jazz, post -punk / new wave) for blending traditional designs with fuzz guitars and oriental rhythms. In the footsteps of Erkin Koray and Orient Express and under the influence of ‘kraut-rock German (Neu !, CAN, Faust etc.) and soundtracks 60’s music, Phoenician Drive Search hypnotic trance by relying on oriental grooves. Two demos were recorded in December 2015 and quickly attracted interest in Brussels (Ateliers Claus WIELS, Recyclart, Atelier 210) and elsewhere (Rockerill, Area B in Paris). An EP is being mixed into the hands of Débruit (label ICI).

The concert will start at 20h sharp by a prologue without electricity, enlightened by 400 artisanal candles.

Sunday 10th @ Ô de Molenbeek Family Street festival. FREE IN!

Then next day on sunday, Rebel Up! plays on the street at the free Ô de Molenbeek festival. Ô’de Molenbeek is a cozy street theater festival in the heart of Molenbeek. The square at metro station Graaf Van Vlaanderen for one day turned into a scene of circus, street theater, animation and initiation of clowning to real acrobatics for the young (at heart)! Food, drinks and much more.

Rebel Up! djs SebCat & LeBlanc will play warm up, cool down and freestyle street dance tunes inbetween all the acts!
