A night of Rootsy Brazilectro coming up thursday 25 sept!

 

Esmeraldo Marques aka Chico Correa, producer, DJ and musician from tropical Nordeste, Paraiba state – in Brazil. He produces albums under the name of Chico Correa & Electronic Band. As a DJ he plays as a live act, mixing sounds from machines in realtime, some sets are performed with a singer and a guitar player, playing eletrosamba stuff and afrobrazilian elements. His productions are always based on Brazilian folk melodies and rhythms such as coco, baiao, samba, carimbó mixed with modern eletronic sounds and audio processing.  Check out these super special swinging mixes by him!

A very special cumbia Nightshop party in Recyclart on Friday 28 march!
with special guests Dengue Dengue Dengue all the way from the cumbia hotbed that is Lima, Peru, one of the hottest digital cumbia producers of the moment, expect lots of modern colours of cumbia and some psychedelic electro elements.

another special guest is Captain Cumbia of the notorious cumbia in Paris at the La Dame de la Canton boat, who is a producer, remixer and skilled dj of all sounds latin. he’ll bring a special guest to play live instruments (trumpet & more) alongside with him for his 2nd set

support by yours truly Rebel Up! Soundclash dj’s with a serious Peruvian twist since SebCat will just have returned 4 hours before the party from a musical holiday in Peru! also closing off is dj Mellow of the Low Up crew with some serious bass.

This time the benefit will go to activity project for Brazilian street kids.

Brazilian NGO Tiaozinho

During the next 3 months, a sports project for children and adolescents in one of the Sao Paulo favela’s will be organised. The aim is to stimulate social skills, values like team spirit, playing together and fairplay so that the youths can make positive decisions in their future life, but the main goal simply is to just have fun and enjoy themselves. Sports that will feature are football, volleyball & circus techniques and some other activities. Also friendly tournaments will be organised for the children as an end goal to all their sports training and with an incentive for them to invite their family into their playing environment as part of the social process. For this project, they need to raise money to buy sports equipment (balls, nets, clothing etc) and to cover other costs.

Ready for some live one-man soukous action?

the Contrabanda world night offers an excellent live band and dj’s to keep the party going the whole night. Live band of the night: East London musician A.J. Holmes (Hackney Empire) plays a marriage of afro-pop and soukous paired with traditional pop sensibilities and will play a special solo set in Bonnefooi on guitar, voice and dj decks at the same time for a unique approach to the swinging African sound. Curious? Do come and check it out and swing into the night with us.

Hi Up the Rebels,

Our selection has grown wilder and once again with all types of mashups between Soca, Soukous, Cumbia, global rough bass, the groove of old skool and new skool Afro-Funk, Desert blues, festive Chaabi, mad Indian drum n bass and a bit of spicy Balkan beat here and there.

As usual the enjoyment is also based on the fact that your feet won’t be moving for no reason, the benefits of the night will go this time to Women’s Initiative for Gender Justice, a NGO struggling for the changes of mentality and mainly for the governments leaving consciously open sexual crimes unpunished. If you won’t to know more about this organization, you can go to www.iccwomen.org or on their twitter account @4GenderJustice.

We hope to see you there to share some real fun times together.

SubTropikal and Rebel Up! Soundclash join forces to bring you a one-off night of border crossing, dancefloor melting global sound.

We are excited to announce the return of global producer/DJ extraordinaire MAGA BO to Amsterdam and where better to host him than OCCII! Expect OCCII’s dancefloor to be transformed into a hot, booming, subtropikal cave. There will be great music, there will be dancing and there will be sweating – this is going to be a night not to be missed!

Couleur Café might be on this weekend in Brussels, but it’s a not so interesting edition and already finishing around midnight. So it’s time for some rougher world colours in a global dancehall and bass style for a real tropical party till the early morning light! Hosted by the all-female Tropical Boobs crew from Brussels, known from their wild global bass nights, in collaboration with Rebel Up! and Silver Canary. Expect everything from roots dancehall to cumbia, afro styles, folkloric beats, baile funk, trap and bass by these artists & crews >

Maga Bo (BR) & MC Teba (SA); ethnic bass & global dancehall
We’re proud to announce 2 special international guests on our night. Globetrotting producer Maga Bo hails from Rio de Janeiro and is one of the godfathers of the ‘global bass’ sound before the name had even been invented, having worked with artists from all around Africa and Latin America. His recent 2012 album *Quilombo do Future* features a modern Brazilian sound where he merged regional Afro folkloric styles from the Nordeste together with modern electronic dancehall beats, a true futuristic melting pot for the global dancefloor! MC Teba from Cape Town, South Africa, will perform duties on the mic during Maga Bo’s live set. Yep, be warned; it’s gonna be hot, steamy and wild.
