heya Brussels people,

this Thursday night there’s a FREE electropical party @ Bazaar club/resto in Kapucijnenstraat 63 Rue des Capucins, Brussels (Les Marolles) organised by the folks of Dolus et Dolus, BeBup and Waf! Party starts at 23h and goes on till 4am.

From midnight to 1am, Rebel Up! dj SebCat will be playing a tasty cumbiatropic & electro set with sounds from allover Latin America, Africa and ze west! There will be a donation box for Bolivian/Peruvian charity organisation Chakana next to the DJ booth, so come and throw some change!

Special guest of the night is Uproot Andy (US) from New York, who starts his European tour tonight. His tropical sound gets mashed with some electro, amazing stuff for swinging and shaking. just check his myspace below! This will be his only Belgian show. (for those in Hollandia; he is playing Rotterdam (Worm) and Amsterdam (OT301) on Friday & Saturday!)

Rebel Up! is going Double Global on saturday 22nd of May, with a line up in Amsterdam@OCCII and in Utrecht@Vechtclub. Yes we have a Blobal Double Bill for you to choose from. So choose wisely!

In Amsterdam we have a Global Bass Special, with the world renound Sonido del Principe bringing us a mix of cumbia and fat heavy Global BaSS, and Process Rebel brining his latest releases Live!

In Utrecht we have a very special treat: a very Special Global Reaggae Nite. It will be all Reaggae and all no-Reggae at the same time: the night will be a tribute to Reaggae without playing reggae! Well Smartin can explain you better below. Enjoy!

Saturday 22nd of May @ OCCII – Rebel Up Soundclash meets Sonido del Principe and Process Rebel

And us in Rebel Up we’re meant to respect that kind of free-minded motto. So we feel like pleasing each other with the crowd and our crew, music-wise mainly. Listen, don’t you hear the distant sound of horns spreading in all directions, beat down by the claves del America del Sur. Cumbia will be one of our centerfolds of the night only to allow us to go in various other destinations. Let’s have the program :

Rebel Up! Crew – The saga continues with the reunification of our three original soundclashers. After having travelled for so long through the mountains and ending up in Armenia, Rik will distillate some of his crunchy curry material that you might find if you go through the desert. Seb shall boomblast the dancefloor with the stuff that’s not been created yet, he already has it. Looking for music from out there and beyond just ask Seb. The French dude will still pass on his motion-virus to the crowd and we’ll all get unstopable groovy legs. Maarten’s visions will splash on the screen all along the night.

Sonido del Principe (NL) – As a co-founder of Generation Bass blog, we owe a huge respect to SDP. He delivered in the past years dancefloor hits como “Cartagena”, under the brightest labels like Bersa Discos and Zizek. Now, the man is back to let us share is world of massive cumbia. Not one to take a nap on the counter but rather here to prove your skills at shaking your hips and shoulders. Here is one tropical base exploding in a firework of infinite possibilities. From Mexico to Buenos Aires you will hear genuine old school sounds mixing up with dubstep, electro and even hardrock.

Yes mi brethren,

this evening is a tribute to the giant influence the little island of Jamaica has on the sonic landscape of our planet. From the legendary Skatalites to King Tubby’s dub effects to Sly & Robbie’s massive drum & bass sound,  you cannot underestimate the importance of these pioneers in the global universe of groove.

On this night, the air will be filled with tropical flavours & big basses. Expect reggae-inspired music from all over the globe: Contemporary roots reggae & dancehall from Spain meets  transglobal balkan dub, which together with some fresh african reggae riddims morphes into raggajungle topped with a little dubstep reggaesound. Bob Marley undoubtedly will be around, but the main focus will be on the non-jamaican productions.
So wake the town and tell the people to put on their dancing shoes, cause you do not wanna miss this edition of Rebel Up!

Doe daar nog een wel hele bijzondere performance bij en Meneo zorgt voor een avond die je niet snel meer zal vergeten! Dat hebben hun optredens op o.a. Eurosonic, Dance Valley en Rauweekender wel bewezen.

From this night on Rebel Up! will be hitting the Brussels global scene almost every 2 months with a Soundclash night at Bar Recyclart, the cafe part of the special Recyclart venue in the centre of Brussels. More parties & special nights to be expected!

The Rebel Up crew & friends will play their newest, oldest and most kitsch global sounds in a tasty mishmash with all spices and flavours. From the most crunchy cumbia to Carribean powersoca, Brazilian carimba, Greek rembetika, Siamese soul, Arabic dabke, African soukous funk, Balkan disco, dub, roots and whatnot. We’re starting up at 21:00 and taking to 01:00, hopefully we can stretch it a bit longer if a lot of you happy people can’t stop dancing.

Since this night is for free and non-profit, we would like to raise money & awareness for special charity organisation. This time we have selected the organisation Chakana, a NGO who provides support to Indians in the barren highlands of the Andes. Their main projects are focussed on building greenhouses, teaching ecological agriculture and providing education for children. We will put a donation pot on our playing table and hope you can drop a nice donation, whatever you can spare.

Told you Spring was on it’s way. Let’s make the best of it and when sun comes down this Saturday 10th of April after the playoffs in the Vondelpark, just come and join us to bounce and reward your booty under maasive live percussions and digital underground.
