Their aim:
- To provide secundary education and arrange funds for university.
- Access to medical care for all , by paying insurance and visits at the doctor. A doctor has already been appointed to the village through donations.
- To build a centre in the town in the near future. This centre will serve as a medical and social centre and at the same time it provides the locals space to store, display and produce their handcrafts. Also tourist accomodation will be built to attract western visitors, so that locals can earn their livelihood through social tourism, without the intervention of package holiday agencies.
Please take a look at the Igitego Inyange website.
Below some impressions of Gahanda and the project.
Chakana
provide support to the poverty-stricken Aymara indians who live in the barren highlands. The project we support will be for building greenhouses, so that they can build their own veg crops without fear of bad seasons that often occur. We will be happy to receive any donation one can spare. Nope, we’re not fussy for the sake of good support. Especially combined with a party!
Chiapas Indians
Maybe some of you will have heard about the Zapatista movement uprising, which can be seen as one the first antiglobalists who stepped up for their rights when their govenment did not act on their issues. We at Rebel Up! feel that we need to support these rebelling indians in their righteous cause.
At the moment a hospital is being built nearby La Realidad, which is situated in the autonome area that is not controlled by the Mexican army anymore. Funding is seriously needed for the construction of this hospital and that’s the chosen route our money will follow. This project is coordinated by Grassroots Projects, please scrobble their website for more info. We hope to see you saturday.
We truly had not expected this many people with happy feet, creating such a superb atmosphere. We counted more than 100 people after midnight, who turned the dancefloor into a sea of bodies, rocking straight till the end!
Zaterdag 7 november @ Vechtclub; Rebel Up! Soundclash *Polska Rootz* avond

Read MoreTropical album of the year? King Coya – Cumbias de Villa Donde
We’re definately psyched by this dubbed out debut!
Dubby echo’s, pounding drums, pixellated roots, fuzzy folklore and latino electronica. this cocktail doesn’t go wrong one bit. The cover is just awesome, as if an Andean video game for herding lama’s y vicuña’s

Taken & edited from ZZK Records site >
“King Coya, from the Northern Argentine Andes, is the digitalized, imaginary version of Gaby Kerpel, who blends traditional Colombian cumbia and Argentine folklore with electronic music.
His anticipated release, Cumbias de Villa Donde, on ZZK Records is a collection of original down-tempo, electro folklorica that bridges indigenous music out of South America with global dance. Through King Coya, Gaby Kerpel reinterprets classic Colombian and Peruvian cumbias in the Zizek sound. It’s the kind of record that rede nes world music, allowing the listener a personal stake in audio globe trotting: King Coya’s music is both accessible and timeless, taking you home to the Andes mountains and beyond.
Coya is a term used in Northern Argentina, referring to a local in a yarn cap, reserved in nature and small in stature, playing an instrument like the charango; the mini guitar used in Argentine folk music. Gaby, through King Coya, has made himself into the purveyor of laid-back, electro-folk infused with cumbia, hip hop, and reggae, enriched by voices from diverse global regions, while maintaining the avor of South America.”
